    Brew Con World Series V

Exactly the same here.. If its over 30 i'm pretty chuffed as basically two judges are saying the beer is good and my process is working well.

    Brew Con World Series V

Interesting, I got 34 for my English IPA, but the exact same beer scored 39 in the NAB comp.. defo keen to see the feedback forms. (and I also entered a golden ale as well! how bizarre lol)

    Malt Miller Hop Packaging

Exactly, totally agree.. A QR code is great for extended, non critical information that might appeal to pro-brewers like batch numbers, traceability and other growing/processing information that is made available in due course (assuming MM are going to build on this a bit), but print the basics...

    Malt Miller Hop Packaging

I really don't see why MM can't have a QR code (if that's what they want for stock management) and print on the packet what we care about as brewers as well i.e. the year of harvest/AA%.. its like its a deliberate effort to force people to hit the MM website more often to drive up traffic etc...

    Brew Con World Series V

Aye for such an amazing event to attend, this has let it down a little tbh. I really don't want to criticise too much as i do get that it's a huge thing too organise in their own time and I'm sure they have jobs and families like we all do. But it has been like 10 days now and I'm not aware of a...

    Brew Con World Series V

Haha, ditto!.. I recall the results were read out quite late, about 10pm+? they rattled through the winners really quickly and yeah I only remember that none of mine got a mention lol!! I couldn't tell you anyone that won

CO2 Woes. There's got to be an easier way!

This is exactly why I quickly stopped the practice of using the fermentation CO2 to purge a full keg of starsan to another.. In my effort to purge the keg of oxygen, I'm probably putting some oxygen back in + other volatiles depending on when I hook it all up during the fermentation..

    Anybody making custom labels?

+1 for milk.. I've bottles that I did like 4 years ago still with the labels on good and firm.. and they only require a quick soak in water and they'll come off easy enough.

    Grain conditioning for milling.

Steaming does sound too much like a faff!.. Ok, yeah I agree I think maybe I need to review my "misting" container, it sounds like something wider/box like and less bucket like might better, and split my misting in half Thanks.. I'm defo sold on conditioning though, if nothing else, the...

    Grain conditioning for milling.

Anyone have any good techniques for conditioning the grain? I'm currently putting all my grain into a 20L bucket, then whilst misting it with a spray bottle with one hand, i've my other hand (and a good chunk of my arm!) in the grain trying to really mix it all up thoroughly and evenly wetted...

    Grain conditioning for milling.

I've done this a couple of times now, makes a huge difference to the appearance of the grains.. The first time i did this, efficiency seemed right, the second time I did lose a few points from somewhere, even though the temps were good and it was fully converted from the iodine test. I was...

    Spotless Water

I've used it for the past two brews now, even though I have an RO setup as well.. I felt bad using my RO setup during the summer because of all the waste water it produces (even though I captured most of it and put it in my water butt, but still) Also, the spotless water is perfect to use for...

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

Yeah will prob throw these into a hoppy lager or as you say a very light pale ale to see how they fare.. hoping they pack more flavour than aroma... Just curious to see if many others grow this hop specifically and what joy they have had from it.. I didn't do much research on this hop prior to...

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

Does anyone grow Glacier hops here? 1st year growing hops and have both a Cascade and Glacier planted out.. The cascade was amazing, not the biggest of yields, but nice big cones, fantastic citrusy aromas.. can't wait to get them in a brew later in the year. But my main question is around the...

How to repair the black rubber on top of a corny keg?

I tried the suggestion to blasting it with the pressure washer but it didn't really seem to do much to stop the black rubber from marking my hands everytime i moved it.. I was going order some of that armor all protectant as its seems to only be a few quid off amazon. might do that in a week or...

    A word on protofloc…

Yeah i'm already considering buying some irish moss and measuring it out exactly as per my batch size and move away from just throwing in a tablet at 15mins...

    A word on protofloc…

Hmm, that's interesting.. I normally use a full tablet and don't think much of it, but this week I brewed up a golden ale, about 26L left post boil and set off the whirlpool as normal. Hops put into a hop stand.. after standing for a bit, then chilling, removing the wort chiller/hopstand and...

Brewzilla neoprene jacket - machine washable?

I recently put 2 ss brewtech neoprene jackets in the washing machine - i assume they are nigh on identical in material.. 30degrees, no soap, no spin, hung drip/dry.. came out just fine and back on the FV's without issue.
