    Brewuk website "down for maintenance"

It was a horrific time for sure for all retailers (amongst many sectors affected). I purchased my fair share of "stuff" during the lockdowns and all the retailers, couriers, etc adapted brilliantly to the situation and went above and beyond in my view with only minimal delays for the things I...

Norwich Amateur Brewers - Brew Like A Monk (14 October 2023)

This is awesome, in 8+ years of brewing I've never made a Belgian beer so I'm defo going to give this a go and see how it fares!.

    Brewuk website "down for maintenance"

Yeah whilst lockdown was tough for all businesses, brewuk really didn't do well and I have an awful experience trying to return and get credit for a US pump they sold me incorrectly (they were sent US models themselves) a few days before the start of lockdown.. It took nearly four months for...

    Lager than life competition

Chuffed to get 3rd for a Schwarzbier on the amber & dark lagers table, scoring 40.. I don't brew lagers that often and feel like I've somewhat redeemed myself after last years entry totally bombed.. defo going to make more of an effort to brew more than one lager a year I think!..

    Dry hopper

That's pretty awesome.. I tell you what, you have a decent product there for people that brew in plastic buckets, you could take that further into market maybe?.. Its the sort of thing I've come to expect to see released Kegland solving brewday problems for the home brewer with a bit of...

    Chemclean Residue?

I have found the same, recently switched to Chemclean from PBW (mainly for costs) and noticed it leaves a residue that I never had with PBW after a soak. Also, the chemclean foams up like crazy when used in a CIP, even though it lists quantities for a CIP cycle on its datasheet, so I don't quite...

    Deionised water - reassurance wanted

+1 for spotless water if you have a station near you. 3.5p/litre, just add your brewing salts to build whatever profile you want and away you go.

    How to avoid NEIPA oxidation?

Hi @Braumeister I have a SS brewtech chronical, rather than the bucket but I believe they have similar lids/seals. Whilst they aren't advertised as holding any pressure, they can hold 1-2PSI. I made a simple modification to mine where I drilled into the domed lid and added a ball lock post. That...

    Pensions

I don't claim to know the inner workings of private pensions, how they are protected/underwritten etc, so please correct me: but at the moment, many pension providers are enjoying vast numbers of active workers contributing compared to the numbers retiring but as the needle swings and more...

    Pensions

Exactly something like that.. In addition, making a workplace pension compulsory for all people as they leave the education system and start earning over a certain threshold. Sure it'll prob be an admin nightmare at first, and complexity with self-employed etc but at least in 40years, a vast...

    Pensions

Yeah i'm in my mid-40s and I think I'm at the tail end of the generations that might see a state pension of sorts.. I can't see how the state pension is affordable with the way things are/going and definitely believe as some others have said that it'll erode away to nothing over the next 3 or 4...

    The 'Hop Water' Thread

Lol it can't get any worse haha.. I'm in no rush to bin this so will defo see how it changes over a week or so, and tbh I don't have the time this week to make a different batch anyway. I might try cold steeping next time seeing as you are finding that is nicer product at the end, although I'm...

    The 'Hop Water' Thread

Are you using tap water? and other than AMS to drop the pH, are you using any other additives? I made a batch on Thursday evening boiling 5L of tap water with enough lemon juice to drop it to about 4.5pH.. I used about 2g/L of chinook that I had lying around in the fridge and steeped it at...

    Scottish National Homebrew Competition

I'm all but resigned to the fact that this is lost in royal mails system and will need to file for compensation next week. I shan't be using these guys again in a hurry, which is a shame as they did good for me last year. The choice i need to make by Monday noon is do i send another litre and...

    Scottish National Homebrew Competition

Still no change with my royal mail delivery grr. Gotta make a choice now to give up on royal mail and send another 3 bottles via someone else on a next day and hope they get from milton keynes to scotland on the 24th or just give up and send the same beer into the uk nationals in a few weeks

    Scottish National Homebrew Competition

tbf I used them for a few competitions last year and they were good for me, and a bit cheaper than alternatives. But yeah, if this doesn't make it through I'll defo be ditching them and paying a bit more for something more reliable.
