Green bottles though, so will let uv light in and skunk your beer unless you keep them somewhere dark. And it’s Heineken! 😉

    Chill haze

From an AG perspective, if this kit had dry hops added this may be a possible cause of haze. If it’s chill haze you will have hazy beer at cold temperatures that clears up at room temperature, if it’s hazy all the time it’s something else, possibly yeast. Time will clear it, I’ve had kegs of...

    Elderflower Ale Suggestions?

Sounds interesting, not brewed this style but would be interested how it comes out. There’s not may elderberry beer recipes out there, one other suggestion I’ve seen is elderberry saison, not brewed that either. From what I hear, elderberries need to be cooked before eating to remove toxins...

Also check the nylon washer where the regulator meets the cylinder, any cracks, dents or stray whiskers of metal could cause a leak.

    What did you brew today?

Going to attempt to cold crash in the FV for the first time tomorrow. Mylar ballon ordered an hour ago for delivery tomorrow for 62p, gotta love Amazon Prime! I hear the Wyeast London III doesn’t like to drop out, so hopefully this will encourage it to do so and I can harvest it from the bottom...

Aahh, I feel your pain! May have to use it as an excuse to support your local brewery and get a takeout for the weekend! 🍺

Tank regulator should definitely show something when connected. My first reg didn’t so I returned it as faulty.

    Elderflower Ale Suggestions?

This is the beer I found, never tried it though... https://www.williamsbrosbrew.com/beer/ebulum If my elderberries (which I have never used before) and my Prima Donna (first gold) hops come good at similar times, it seems a shame not to try some magic!

    What did you brew today?

It certainly is! That’s what the recipe called for and I think it’s coming out slightly higher ABV and there’s plenty of bitterness. I’m going to cold crash tomorrow so it should be serving soon, I’ll let you know! I do like a malty ale from time to time but am usually cautious about adding too...

    Corny keg questions

When you get your next cylinder could you connect your regulator, set it to zero so no need to connect a line to it, turn the cylinder valve fully open and gaffer tape a bin bag around the top of the cylinder? This would prove if your regulator has a leak.

    Corny keg questions

Some great maths there @Drunkula 👍 My tank always shows just above red on the tank pressure and only drops when the tank is very nearly empty (not much notice). Just checked and the tare weight of my new (2018) 6.35kg tank is 11.4kg. This is the weight of the empty tank including the top valve...

    Corny keg questions

Definitely a leak somewhere, but I would be suspicious of the regulator if the tank level gauge showed zero from the start. Unless the tank was empty in the first place, did you weigh it at the start? I do now turn my tank valve on fully after reading about it here, but prior to that I only ever...

    Planning a Raspberry Wheat

Hello all! Planning on brewing something fast and refreshing and maybe something my good wife might try. I've brewed the GH recipe before and I'm tweaking it a bit based on some ideas I've read and other recipes. I normally brew 19l batches for kegging, but my plan is to get a 12l batch...

    Elderflower Ale Suggestions?

Sure, no worries. I updated the recipe and re-uploaded it. This should work: https://beersmithrecipes.com/viewrecipe/3099060 Most of my recipes are on there, feel free to search for my profile 'ed_lx'. Not all the fine details are correct, but the ingredients should be what went into the...

    Elderflower Ale Suggestions?

My ale turned out well, lovely golden colour, some sweet maltiness to it and plenty of elderflower aroma without being overpowering. It’s still a bit young but is improving (it’s on tap already as I’m impatient and had a free tap). Started off quite hazy, presumably from the pollen, but...

    Recommend me an RO machine

This is the unit I use: https://www.waterfilterman.co.uk/fish-keeping-water-filters/248-17-reverse-osmosis-water-filter-for-aquarium-discus-fish-marine.html#/22-add_ons-standard_ro Takes between 8-10 hours to get ~35l and it does waste some water in the process, so maybe not ideal if you’re...

    Its too hot!

What a great guy (both of you)! My tomatoes aren’t in very large pots, so I’ve now taken to watering them morning and evening if it’s going to be a scorcher. ‘Fortunately’ I’m able to keep a close eye on all the growing things round the house as I currently don‘t have anything as ‘inconvenient’...

    Its too hot!

Thanks, yes I'm new to growing tomatoes and vegetables. They looked fine one minute, an hour later their newest top growth was not happy at all. Quickly put them in the shade and gave them a water and they looked OK again a few hours later. It was about 1500 and it gets very hot down by the...
