What are you drinking tonight 2024.

From Aldi. I don’t think I’ve ever had anything called YB before, I don’t mind it, was expecting more bitterness.

Brew Books - What's On Your Shelf??

I was also curious what part of the wine making was being depicted!

Brew Books - What's On Your Shelf??

Have also ordered this new book, on paper that’s exactly what I would like.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Tesco, forget if it was part of an offer but most of their bottles are 4 for 3.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Joining the Cornish Stout club. The smoke and roast reminds me of my last imperial brew.

Looks great I have one in the fridge, looking forward to it.

    CAMRA Homebrew Champion 2024

Most home kegged beer isn’t filtered anyway so technically already has yeast in and conditions continuously. Would be obvious to the pourer though?

    CAMRA Homebrew Champion 2024

Would probably help if TMM had publicised it as well as sponsoring? Might have entered if I knew about it earlier. T&Cs not great though…must be bottle conditioned, 4 or preferably 6 500ml glass bottles required.

    Storing Kegs for Later Use

I have been lagering in keg for 2 weeks with no gas top ups. They end up presumably with no pressure but it hasn’t been a problem. I would give it a go, if you can hold a steady temperature there should be less risk of breathing by expansion and contraction.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Bottle share at Dark Revolution. I’ve not been able to make the last couple of these, as before an amazing selection of rarities and comments on my lagers were very kind.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

I have been craving something with some bitterness as I seem to have neglected making anything strongly hopped recently. Picked up in Tesco, pretty interesting flavours.

Brew Books - What's On Your Shelf??

I picked up a free trial of kindle unlimited so have been getting through quite a few decent reads: Vienna lager Historic German and Austrian beers for the home brewer Now reading Balmy Nectar which made me look this up http://frothblowers.co.uk/aofbhist.htm Will be 100 year Anniversary in...

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Hop heats 2 of 5. CF374. They say Berry and Woody. I think I’d like to try the hop not in a Neipa…a bitter maybe.

    Dirty yeast

You must have layers of trub after bottling as you still have hot and cold break in there. Use a scoop to take the middle to top layer into a jar, loosely fit lid, refrigerate at 5 degrees. Half a jar should be plenty you don’t need it all. When you come to use it pour off the beer layer in the...

Are we wasting our time with whirlpool/hopstands?

I never know if SN = Shepherd Neame or SN = Sierra Nevada…

    "That homebrew taste"

I’m quite sensitive to the taste of fermented cane sugar so I would guess at that being the cause. It’s also a bit of a plain recipe for a big beer?

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Village fete this afternoon had a KISS attitude to drinks - you could have either Prosecco or cask ale. Now home and sampling my Schwartzbier. I’ve never had this nor is it obvious where I could buy one but my keezer setup that fits 2.5 kegs encourages a bit of experimenting with half batches.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

This is very close in flavour to their mild, but the mild was better.

    Why is my beer cloudy?

A keg can be fined later if you have stuff on hand so you can treat the issue when it happens. Bottles may benefit from some colder nights in the garage when the season changes and come out better?

    Crushing your own grain.

Not long enough by the sounds of it, probably 10 minutes. Also underestimated size of container needed to stir 5kg grain.
