Mangrove Jacks M54 Cali Common yeast stopped fermenting

I'm making a cali common with MJ54, here's the recipe: It's 25 litres, OG is 1.056, it's stuck at 1.020. It's been there a few days and had a peek inside, no krausen and no airlock activity. I've increased the temperature in my fermentation fridge from 10-22C and rocked the FV several times...

    A History of Heavy Metal

Hi everyone, as well as beer I have another love in life, music, specifically heavy metal. I've started a podcast A History of Heavy Metal in 100 Songs. I've spent months doing research and now am recording and releasing episodes, I've got the intro and ep.1 published, which you can find here...

The end of the road for Boris.

In Britain we don't vote for the party we like the most, we vote for the party we hate the least.

The end of the road for Boris.

I really wanted Boris to stay in until the next election as he would decimate the party; he's Labour's ticket to No. 10, and probably Lib Dems' saviour too! The track record for Tory replacements hasn't been good and they've got worse and worse, Boris is the worst PM, followed by Theresa May...

The end of the road for Boris.

He sounds down to earth and like he understands the average person in Britain.

Bottling from keg, what's the best solution

I didn't get it in the end and have been using the boel iTap. The iTap is quite fussy though and only takes specific glass bottles, so I've just bought a Nukatap as well but it hasn't arrived yet. Once I get to play around with it I will post back here. I did get it off Ali Express, so that...

    Lavender in beer?

Has anyone used lavender in beer? If so how did you add it and how much? I was thinking of throwing some in 10 mins before the end of the boil and/or making a tincture and adding that to the beer.

    Kveik Recipe

I've used Servomyces before which works well, and a very small amount is needed per batch. I've not used anything else though. You could use beer yeast, probably in the same amounts as bread yeast, but I've not tried that. I've not tried wine yeast because apparently wine and beer require...

    Kveik Recipe

I always use nutrient with kveik :laugh8:. I tend to have a lot of bread yeast at any given moment so I add about 1 tbsp of bread yeast for a 23-25 litre batch 10 mins before the end of the boil. In my experience when I don'tuse nutrient the ferment is really slow, and on higher ABV beers it...

    Yeast Bank Trades

I'd really like to start culturing up my own wild yeast as well. I think for my birthday I'm gonna ask for one of those yeast wrangling kits and a microscope.

    Yeast Bank Trades

I would like to do this but my yeasts are stored in jars in the fridge. Do you have any good resources to hand for storing yeast in a good way like you are doing?

    Boel iTap exploded a bottle

Yeah it was probably a bad bottle. I had a beer tasting with some friends which is what the bottle came from, I wouldn't be surprised if it got dropped or thrown into the recycling which damaged it.

Boel Itap versus Blichmann Beer Gun v2.0

I asked a similar question back in January but there's some comparison between the itap and beer gun you might find useful: Bottling from keg, what's the best solution I ended up getting the itap and I generally like it but it does feel a bit fiddly. It can be hard to get the flow right and...

    The Hop Exchange

I can't remember if they're growing this year, but Borough market grows hops in their windows.

    Boel iTap exploded a bottle

Hello, I have a Boel iTap and was trying to fill with it a couple of days ago. I was purging a Tynt Meadow bottle and it exploded, sending a shard of glass flying out narrowly missing my face. As you can imagine it was a bit of a shock. Is this some freak accident or is it possible to put the...

    Labour Party retake Wakefield!!

I kind of agree with you in theory: There's need for policy makers who can make real change which lasts longer than 5 years. I also think in theory it's a really good idea to have people who are the best in their field to help scrutinise laws by people who don't have the same level of knowledge...

    Labour Party retake Wakefield!!

surprised no one has mention abolishing the House of Lords and Royal family for a fairer political system. Maybe 1st past the post could work for local representation so long as we had another chamber with PR, and then get rid of an unelected family business turning down laws which they don't like.

    £80.15 pint.

Craft Beer Co has always been a bit on the expensive side. It's a nice place but probably not my first choice of pubs to go to. I do like that one in Brixton as it's a good place to get a couple of beers before seeing a band at Brixton Academy. I just realised the guy in the photo is wearing a...

    Labour Party retake Wakefield!!

Voting isn't the only method of political activism. Whilst it's important, I can understand why people choose to abstain due to bad candidates, bad parties, bad electoral system etc., but are politically active in other ways. That being said, I'm not sure if 61% of Wakefield's electorate...
