    Refreshing a brew in keg

No don’t do that the o2 ingress won’t help and may oxidize any added hops. what I have done with success is transfer closed under pressure to another vessel prepurged with the hops in there preferably bagged unless you got a filter on your dip tube then I guess you could go commando but I...

Boiling Hops in water as though it was wort.

coopers stout is really amazing prolly the best kit . it conditions really well in the bottle too. the longer the better. and with a pound of steeped chocolate you get the coffee chocolately raostiness that the kit is lacking a little bit . def doesnt need hops. make it to 5 gallons. the...

Boiling Hops in water as though it was wort.

theres a lot going on in this thread with a lot of concepts and controversial ideas. in general we boil dme with hops to get the hop oils out of the hops and into the beer. the only reason i ever saw to not boil beer is for time reasons. thus i switched to HME kits for many many years...

Boiling Hops in water as though it was wort.

That homebrew whiff from a kit

no the off flavor or twang u are getting isnt from the heat of the water. especially if dme is unopened you definitely dont need to boil it. there are many reports of not boiling dme. LME also doesnt have to be boiled , but if not prehopped we need to boil to get the hops in (sort of- you...

That homebrew whiff from a kit

i was going to say stout kits are your best bet its hard to mess them up . and they can last longer on shelf than lager kits. i make a great coopers stout with 1/2 pound of steeped chocolate malt. a pound of dme , and a half pound of flaked oats for added body but theres two very good threads...

That homebrew whiff from a kit

any of the coopers lager kits work as long as you replace the yeast. most hopped lager kits actually have ale yeast. so anyone can brew them regardless of your ability to lager. some coopers lager kits actually have lager yeast. heres a description of all the coopers kits yeast...

That homebrew whiff from a kit

Apple Wine using supermarket juice - what ratio to bottled water

yes what jof said. dont dilute. you do know of edworts apfelwein right? https://www.homebrewtalk.com/threads/edworts-apfelwein.33986/ if you havent tried that you might want to . edworts starts out very dry with little to know apple flavor. it really peaks at 6 months to 9 months in the...

    Oxebar PET "Kegs"

short and squat low center of gravity compact size are all very important in PET kegging . and mini keggers. . after all if we had space for cornies we wouldnt be minikegging in the first place. a list of short fat squat stubby kegs: ball lock wide mouth 1.75 gallons 11 inches ! 1.6...

    Oxebar PET "Kegs"

i do a lot of minikegging . and a lot of minikegging in PET bottles. i have yet to use oxebar but i use something very similar. 2.5 and 3.5 liter amber PET bottles. from reviews i have read i think these bottles may be a little sturdier than oxebars. that said these things have a habit of...

    Kegs, "kegs" and other 'kegs'

donated 😉 from the now defunct coney island brewery 😔 i love my 8 oz acopas also: but i googled small stemless wine glasses and i am very intrigued. this one particularly caught my eye. these 4oz visions look beautiful and like great samplers. but a little small. i love...

Fridges and freezers that fit two cornys

i basically stole a midea 4.4 from target when it was on sale. its the same as the danby 4.4. they are great fridges with a ton of space inside. i can fit all sorts of configurations of small kegs in there without any mods, but i got it because another member showed me that if you shave...
