    How to avoid NEIPA oxidation?

    Looks great, thanks for that!

    How to avoid NEIPA oxidation?

Interesting, thanks! I guess I’ll postpone this one till if I get a fermzilla or something like that. Next brew planned is a west coast IPA so I’ll save the hops and just skip straight to that instead.

    How to avoid NEIPA oxidation?

I’m planning to brew my first NEIPA tomorrow, from the recipe in the Greg Hughes book. I’d be interested to hear from anyone who has brewed one, and how they avoided oxidation, or had oxidation issues. I’m not able to do a fully closed transfer as I don’t have a pressure fermenter. I do...

    Scottish National Homebrew Competition

Yes thanks, I see it now using an iPad, it doesn’t show with mobile 🤷‍♂️

    Grain prices creeping up.

Yeah luckily I got one this week at 26.95. Cheapest I could find. The Home Brew Shop in Farnborough had Golden Promise for £33 which is decent too though. MO is available at £33 but it has a BB date in 2023.

Whereabouts can you see if your beers were received? I can’t find anything on there about it…

Is Tesco Ashback water still a good option?

Do you think it’s ok to use spotless with gypsum or calcium chloride added? I’ve done that the last couple of brews. You think it is preferable to use it to dilute tap to ensure you get a small amount of natural minerals?

What are you drinking tonight 2023.

Inspired by a recent trip to Germany, just brewed a Hefeweizen, it’s bottle conditioned and ready to drink (brewed NYE). So easy and so delicious, as good as the ones I had in Bavaria. 👍

Also nice to see another Braumeister user! Grainfather and Brewzilla seem to be a lot more popular.

What are you drinking tonight 2023.

Cluster late addition at 10 minutes to give a total IBU together with the Cascade in the 15-20 range

What are you drinking tonight 2023.

Yes sure Brewfather I didn’t have cluster so I just used cascade but it should have cluster too. I also had higher than expected mash efficiency so I had to top up with some water to keep the abv down to 4.5%, so you might want to just use the % grain split rather than the absolute weights.

Newly kegged clone of Yuengling traditional lager. Strangely it required half a kilo of flaked corn, can’t really taste it though tbh. One for the summer really but it’s going down nicely.

    Hazelwood’s Brewday Part 2

Seems a lot of faff using that bottle filler. I’ve been using the Blichmann beer gun, it’s very easy to use. No issues with oxidation or carbonation, in the bottle with no sediment and tastes the same as the keg.

Me also! Although it’s a bit too cold to hang about in there too long in the winter months.

    First time brewer

Exactly what I was thinking! My wife would divorce me if I had a fermenting batch in the bedroom. I have had a few batches where the yeast decided to escape too.

American IPA based on Sierra Nevada Celebration, which I’ve never tried but this is top notch.

    Secret Santa Reviews 2022

A replacement 2nd Secret Santa beer has arrived! Thankyou so much to the sender for sharing another beer and taking so much care to make sure it arrived safely, I really appreciate it. This time it’s a British Pale Ale. I love the flag bottle top! It poured with perfect carbonation for my...
