    Brewlabs

Nice, I just kicked off a starter of Brewlab Thames Valley 1 today for a British Golden Ale. I’m going to build it up to a 1 litre starter after this one.

What are you drinking tonight 2023.

Best bitter been in pressure barrel for 3 weeks and is now crystal clear and the flavour has improved to be a top pint. Hopefully there’s enough pressure in there to last the keg as I can’t add any. I’ve gone for the lid without the co2 capsule adaptor as that one leaked gas.

What are you drinking tonight 2023.

Triple IPA Verdant Putty. Think it’s 10%, at Siren beer festival, everything is a bit fuzzy now to be honest.

    How to avoid NEIPA oxidation?

Sure it can’t hurt to add ascorbic acid. I didn’t use it and did a type of closed transfer with gravity using an SS brewtech Fv to purged keg and no issues at all with oxidation, so I’ll do that process again. Another neipa planned in a couple of brews time. The Greg Hughes recipe was very good.

What are you drinking tonight 2023.

My first bitter is ready, it’ll do! Fresh from the pressure barrel, as usual I have to open the tap about 1mm otherwise it’s just a glass of foam.

    Brewuk website "down for maintenance"

They were the best source for Braumeister spare parts that I know of, so it’s very disappointing they’re not trading. I lost the malt pipe wing nut before Xmas and it was easy to go on the website and get a new one for about £2.50. Vigo do a few things but not many.

    Brewuk website "down for maintenance"

The Trustpilot reviews reveals some shocking tales too. Quite a contrast to the good service from the likes of The Malt Miller, CML and Brewkegtap.

    Brewuk website "down for maintenance"

That is outrageous, I’m glad you got a refund but that must have been very unpleasant. If that’s how they treated some of their customers…

    Sourcing Co2

    Yes that’s the one

Would this work as a keggerator?

That could work but the standard approach with a keezer is a collar. Its not hard to do and means you don’t need to damage/drill holes in the freezer. Fridges usually have the towers because the door is at the front so it’s not attached to the door.

    Lager than life competition

Yes they’re doing 2 national BJCP competitions this year, not sure when it opens yet but I’ll let you know once I find out.

What are you drinking tonight 2023.

Good to know down south we get charged a 30% premium! Don’t think I’ve ever seen a Vienna lager for sale. Shelves of supermarket are crammed full of hazy pale ales, macro lager, and mass produced British bitters. No room for anything as exotic as a Vienna lager. Only one I know of is Negra...

Would this work as a keggerator?

You can get a 3rd keg in where the beer bottles are. I didn’t bother with adding a collar for taps, I just put flow control taps right on the kegs, I like it as it’s less cleaning of lines to do and I avoid DIY as much as possible.

Would this work as a keggerator?

I have that exact freezer and am using it as a keezer. I also have old style wider kegs, I have 2 in there right now but it does fit a third if required. I also have a co2 bottle on the ledge, think it’s a 6kg one that fits in.

Kettle sour - pH not changing

Ah ok you should in theory be good with that. Might be a question of quantity, not sure.
