What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Saw this in my local Tesco the day after watching the Jiddler's Tipple episode on the Malt Miller's YouTube channel, so thought I'd give it a go. Very crisp, fresh and drinkable. Light citrusy aromas. I'll definitely get this again.

Wife's away for the night, so I'm chilling in front of the tv with this little beauty instead 😁

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

I'm not drinking at this time - meant to post this last night! Muntons Connoisseurs Bock - a gap filler brew as the weather and life has got in the way of AG brewing. I replaced the kit yeast (which i believe is an ale yeast) with MJ M76 Bavarian Lager Yeast and used Coopers Light LME...

How many litres of home brew have you made 2024

22L Muntons Connoisseur Range Bock. Gap filler for my lack of AG brewing due to life getting in the way! Replaced the kit yeast with MJ Bavarian M76 Lager yeast and brewed in my Fermzilla at 12psi. Just kegged and bottled it tonight, so fingers crossed it turns out well. 7,011L

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

My second AG Vienna Lager - this time pressure fermented in my fermzilla at room temperature, rather than a bucket in the ferm fridge. It's been lagering at 5degC for 4 weeks now and is crystal clear. Really enjoying this style and loving the fermzilla for doing my lagers.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

A trip to the West End of Glasgow yesterday was fruitful, in that I got to visit The Cave - a beer, wine and spirits shop that stocks a great selection of beers. I bought a couple of Lervig beers but this one caught my eye. Very nice. Typical Saison aromas and flavours with some of that white...

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

That's a shame, considering the bargain price. I brewed this using different yeast and hops from what is supplied in the box - see my post in the 'what are you brewing' thread. Mines turned out great, so it's maybe the kit yeast and hops that let it down, or the brewing equipment (I pressure...

    What did you brew today?

Just to follow up on this, for anyone interested. This brew has turned out to be amazing. I wasn't holding much hope out for it, with it being a kit (my experiences of kits are hit and miss, with that 'twang'), but maybe because this was done in the Fermzilla under pressure, it's improved it...

    What did you brew today?

Used my new toy tonight for the first time - 27L Fermzilla Gen 3.2 Tri-Conical. To keep it simple I just used the MYO Premium Lager kit from The Range, but used different yeast - Hoppin Pils from CML. For the dry hop in a weeks time, I'm replacing the kit hops with Motueka, hoping to get a nice...

    Pump that wort

Yes, that's something else I did that I think helps with my Klarstein's temperature stability - a jacket. Thanks for reminding me @JockyBrewer! Doc Anna inspired me to attempt creating my own jacket from a yoga mat. I'm very pleased with how it turned out - managed to correctly position and...

    Pump that wort

I find that my mash temp is now much more stable using the pump to recirculate. The heating element only kicks in a couple of times during the one hour mash compared to several times without the pump. I also find that the wort is much clearer and, maybe its a coincidence, but I'm hitting my...

    Pump that wort

This was discussed just last week. I provided details of the pump that I bought for my Klarstein Maischfest. Use the search function for the word 'Klarstein' and you'll see it.

    Is it worth it?

Not sure about operating temperatures of the pump, but I've used it during 75degC mash outs with all my brews with no apparent detriment. I strip down the pump after each use too - there's not much to them. The silicone tubing that I bought says that it's good for up to 220degC. I don't use it...

    Is it worth it?

No I don't have anything on the end. The flow is so low that tunneling has never happened. The flow from the pump without any restriction is so high that it risks draining the wort and scorching the kettle, hence why i bought the valve to restrict the flow. I suppose you could put something on...

    Is it worth it?

This is the valve I bought. I can't find any photos of my set up but it's basically a short piece of tubing from the Klarstein tap to the pump, another short piece to the valve, then a long piece into the Klarstein.

    Is it worth it?

Hi Stu, I used the jug method of recirculation too, until someone gave me amazon vouchers for my birthday and I used them to buy this pump. It doesn't come with a power supply but I just use a supply that came with an air pump that I have for blowing up a mattress. Then I just bought a length...

    Is it worth it?

I've had my Klarstein Maischfest for 3 years now. I love it and won't buy anything else until it packs in. Even then, I might just buy another. Great value for money. The only addition I've made to it, is that I bought a magnetic pump a year or so ago to recirculate the wort. It really helped...

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Spotted this in asda last night. Not a brewery I've heard of before, so thought I'd give it a try. I should have read the label properly as I didn't realise it has lactose in it. That ain't gonna agree with me! Anyway, you got to take risks sometimes in the name of science. Aroma is straight...

    What did you brew today?

Brewed a Vienna Lager on Friday using Vienna and Munich malts from the 50% Geterbrewed sale. Not had much luck with lagers in the past as they usually end up oxidised, so this could be the last time I brew a lager if it's another failure. As my previous successful lager was kegged, i decided...
