That homebrew whiff from a kit

When I did kits I found that after I started using temperature controlled brewfridge the results were infinitely better with little or no twang. For me it's the added sugar that is responsible for the 'homebrew' taste of kits, naturally extracted sugars from grains just have a superior taste...

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Nearly at the end of this Amber ale I kegged in November, has to be up there as my favourite style. Maris Otter, Munich, Cara and Crystal malts with Northern brewer to bitter and Cascade late boil, hopstand and dry hop. I also do a similar brew with lower EBC and MJ54 as a Cali Common which is...

    Low Alcohol & Low Calorie

Ghostship alcohol free is Adnams second top selling beer, by far the most convincing attempt at a drinkable alternative for me. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/markets/article-12946689/amp/Quarter-annual-Ghost-Ship-beer-sales-low-alcohol-version-Adnams-says.html

Nicest and best kept pint I've had out and about in a long time. Amber ale with Fuggles and Goldings, brewed not far from here.

    Low Alcohol & Low Calorie

It's worth giving the Ghost Ship AF version a try, it was the only type I found reasonably close to the original. I found most alcohol free beers aren't worth bothering with, I'd rather drink an alternative such as flavoured tonics or botanicals. Another interesting low alcohol option you can...

The UK doesn't want the Imperial system back.

For the work I do measurements to the mm are close enough, probably different for other trades like engineers though.

While I agree most of that, all drawings I work to nowadays are in metric so there isn't a choice. That said, everyone still finds it easier ordering 6"x2" timber or 8'x4' sheets !

Funny how on site everyone still orders sheet materials and lengths of timber in feet and inches but then cut them up to metric measurements. I find imperial easier for making rough mental calculations/estimates but for fine accuracy metric works better.

    All Grain Kits - BIAB

The easiest thing is to put your recipe in Brewfather ( or similar ). It has a BIAB no sparge setting, it'll show you total water volume, mash volume, OG/FG, IBUs etc. You can scale a 23L batch down if you want to make smaller brews.

What are you drinking tonight 2023.

When I was a youth they'd ask at the bar in my local ; 'Straight or handle' ? Don't seem to see them any more, useful if you've got a big round to carry back to your table though.

Have a go at simple AG

If you see a kit you like it's cheaper to copy it into Brewfather, scale it to your requirements and order ingredients yourself. Make up a few recipes at the same time and save on postage.
