What are you drinking tonight 2024.

First brew in ages I neglected to cold crash and this Verdant English IPA has stubbornly refused to clear, but very tasty none the less. Extra pale Maris Otter, Cara and Amber malts with Admiral, Challenger and Goldings.

    Show us your dog

Almost felt like spring today after what felt like a month of rain in February. Enjoying some welcome sunshine while the dogs let off steam.

A very tasty red lager kindly sent me by @Twostage. Nice foamy head and crystal clear this is well brewed, it's a new style for me but gets the thumbs up as does the excellent packaging ! Many thanks for sending

    Cheap Hops

Cheers BB, picked up a nice selection including a few I've been wanting to try for a while such as Nugget, El Dorado, Archer and Olicana.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Getting towards the end of this keg, a Belgian single cold fermented with Novalager. Pilsener, Vienna and Munich malts with Northern brewer to bitter and Saaz late boil and hopstand. OG was down so added some sugar which I told myself was in the spirit of the style ! Now got my feet up before...

    Corned beef.

I use it as bait, chub and barbel love it. Not for me though actually now I think about it my dad's corn beef hash was pretty tasty stuff.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

I brewed this pale ale loosely based on Sierra Nevada recipe, bittered with Northern Brewer and Cascade late in boil and dry hop. I've also brewed this as an Amber ale which is actually more true to original SNPA although they call it a pale ale. Either way, both are firm favourites with me.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Didn't get a chance to post this yesterday, very fine Abbot Ale clone kindly sent me by @Twostage. Its a beer I know well and this is an excellent copy. Deep rich maltiness and fruit character, crisp bitterness and foamy head that lasted right down the glass. Many thanks for sending !

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Round at my MIL's after work to do a few jobs and have my tea. Beef stew, mini roasties, carrots and a bottle of Wainwrights Gold - lovely !

    Novalager

I bought two packs to try warm and cold fermented. First was a Pilsener at 12c which attenuated to 84% with no apple or off flavours and cleared well after some initial haziness. Decent enough but if anything a little bland, I've used Lalbrew Diamond previously which has a little more bite or...

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Kegged this Moutere & Meridian pale ale three weeks ago, enjoying it while it lasts as it was only a 10L batch. Grapefruity bitterness with sweet passionfruit taste and aroma, no sign of lemon or spearmint from the Meridian but the hops seem to work well together

    What did you brew today?

@Twostage for what it's worth your Abbot's ale looks more appetising to me 👍 Like you say, EBC could be a little lower but looks decent.

    What did you brew today?

Looks very nice ! I made a similar Chinook porter from a Jon Finch recipe that I've been meaning to brew again. It was styled as a 'Robust Porter' though, more IBU's and darker but much to my taste. I don't make many dark beers but it was a standout success in early attempts.

That homebrew whiff from a kit

That's what I did, though I haven't moved beyond an 8 gallon pan and a gas stove. It's simple but that's why I like it, I can concentrate on the brewing not the equipment. I think the twang is just the difference between a freshly produced wort versus a processed extract, everything else you...
