What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Still getting through some older bottles as I haven't brewed in months, this Northern Brewer & Cascade American Amber is from last october and still in great nick.

    High Starting Gravity

I'd leave it as it is, on the basis that I don't like to interfere with a brew once its started fermenting. How much yeast did you use ? Under pitching might be more of a problem given the high OG, debatable as to whether it'd be worth chucking another pack of yeast in.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

An easy choice in Asda at 4 for 3, I've got a taste for the Tripel Hop Citra !

    Typical Brew Day?

My brew sessions also typically take 5-6 hrs, but it doesn't need attending all that time and I like to potter around in my shed or garden doing other things during the day. Start with washing and sterilising pan and all equipment then getting water on the hob heating for the mash, while I wait...

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Yes it's quite subtle but pleasant, a nice crisp lager to neck from the bottle though not the sort of thing I'd usually go for

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Not tried this before - definite thumbs up from me ! I'm not a big stout drinker or brewer but I did make a Chinook Porter, also 6%, that was similar to this - rich, dark chocolate maltiness, decent hoppy bitterness, slight sweet finish. My go to Belgian at the moment, 4 for 3 in Asda 👍

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Seen a few people digging out old bottles, I found this Mosaic, Citra & Cascade pale ale I brewed in December 2021 ( AG #20 ). Amazed at how fresh it tastes, lovely lacing lasting down the glass.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Not touched this keg of Vienna lager for a month or so, in lovely fettle. Pale, Munich and Vienna malts, hopped with Tettnang and fermented with MJ84 for first time. Cleaned out the gutters and mowed the lawn today so this was well deserved.

Cost of real pure grape juice versus concentrate – how to choose?

Best country wines I've made have been Blackberry 80%/Elderberry 20% Apple, mixed eaters 70% cookers 30% I use 100% grape juice after racking to top up and give yeast a little boost. Whilst I love these wines, I agree they aren't comparable to those made from grapes, closest I've made is a...

Priming a corny keg - temperature

Thats what I do, then purge any air with a couple of blasts on the PRV.

    Tips

That's in USA where tipping is practically compulsory and more entrenched in their culture than in the UK, staff depend on tips to make up their wages. You realise that pretty quick by the service you get.

    Kefir anyone?

After a couple of days fermentation in water/sugar solution you drain the grains off, then add fruit juice, ginger or whatever you like to fermented solution which goes in fridge ready to drink. You then start a fresh batch using the drained grains and fresh sugar water, so it's a cycle which...

    Kefir anyone?

Bit rude to start a thread and ignore the replies, why bother ?
