    Electric cars.

That's very true, and I believ Tesla opened a huge battery recycling site next door to their giga factory in Texas. Idea being when volumes get to critical mass and age, they will recycle batteries to recover all the materials needed for the factory next door But where cells have not degraded...

    Electric cars.

Which is exactly the point. Each of his battery packs has lasted 300k Actually it's nearer 350k as the first battery pack was actually faulty and replaced very early on under warranty But Tesla over engineer the batteries for a reason. And this will become the norm...it's his intention to have...

    Electric cars.

Depends how you want to do it. But based on buying outright using a loan for the full amount over 5 years... Tesla is £800 per month with 10k miles per year is approx £20 per month electric 25k Citroen is £500 per month Citroen c4 with 10k miles per year is £150 pm in fuel, over the 5 years...

    Electric cars.

It's a simple trade off. Pay repayments on 25k for a car and pay for petrol for 10k miles a year + road tax + servicing Or pay repayments on a 40k EV and pay peanuts for electricity for 10k miles a year If you can charge at home then it really is even Stevens on the sums. And if you go for an...

    Nicks90's Brewdays

I still have this in the FV and don't have time to get it bottled until at some point next week. So it's now getting a dry hop of 20gm Amarillo and 20gm Simcoe for the next 5 days Should give it a bit of a bump in hop flavour!

    Secret Santa Reviews 2023

i was very naughty and forgot to take pictures of the beers post pouring..... but i do have the picture of the beer when i got it, so that will have to do. Winter Warmer Rich, hearty with a good raisin flavour underneath. Its quite bitter, but it matches the heavy malt forward style of the...

What have you been smoking on bbq?

2kg Ham joint for Christmas day smoked on the offset smoker. 5 hours hot smoke with apple wood chips using marabou charcoal and occasionally smothered in a honey and apple cider glaze That will now cool and get put in the fridge overnight and eaten as cold cuts with the other nibbles before the...

    Nicks90's Brewdays

Day 21 of my black assassin Christmas advent..... It's turned in to a truly great tasting beer. I initially said that the chocolate flavour was missing, but it's surprisingly come back again and really balances well with the vanilla. Bitterness has mellowed too and I am very impressed with...

    Is this normal?

That is a lot of trub, but you will be surprised how much it compacts down during fermentation

    Secret Santa 2023

Double delivery today, thank you to both Santa's. Just a bit of a shame that there was a second bottle in there - a Belgian pale - that has broken. But not to worry, still got the main event intact!!! Can't wait to try them both

    No chill

I used to no chill and just dumped it straight from the kettle in to the fv. Added advantage that putting nearly boiling wort in to the bucket acts as a secondary sanitary step in case any lurgies got missed in the first clean. Only reason I stopped is due to ibu calc for very hoppy beers, you...

    Nicks90's Brewdays

AG 141 New year IPA I havent used Simcoe before and i hear good things about it being paired with Amarillo. Pretty straight forward pale ale recipe, nothing fancy and letting the hops shine. Hopefully a punchy little number for the new year 3.5kg Maris Otter 100gm Crystal 113ebc 18l mash at...

    Electric cars.

So not really a recall, just tweaking what's already there. But whilst I believe the majority of people are sensible, you can't do everything to protect the stupid and stupid people are generous when operating heavy machinery I'm on the Tesla model Y owners group and one woman was...

Adding hops at the start of fermentation and hot fermentation temperatures?

You are definitely brewing at the higher end of the temp scale, so expect a lot more eaters and phenols which might effect the end result taste. As for adding the hops on day 1, this is a thing. Research it on here

    Help, is my Cyser ruined?

There will still be plenty of yeast in suspension. Rack it to a clean sanitary demijohn and I am sure it will be fine.

This will seem a strange topic but I think it's relevant here

My neighbour has sheep's in his field and they go mad for the spent grain Now every single time i go out of the gate, I get a dozen sheep going BAHHHHHHHH and sprinting over to the fence in anticipation of a tasty warm malty snack!

    Nicks90's Brewdays

AG 140 New year Ale Pretty straight forward English ale to use up the last of my grain before the new HBS delivery arrives. This should be done by the new year - as I actually brewed it last week and just forgot to write it up! So looking forward to a pretty good session ale. 4.2kg Maris Otter...

    Nicks90's Brewdays

It was mashed. There are so many opinions on what you should do I just decided to plump with lightly toasting it and then putting it in the mash
