    Electric cars.

but people dont look at it that way. they will look and go - "EV and i have to pay expensive car tax and from year 2 £190 per year - £600 a year tax for an EV??????? then £600-1000 for a charger!?!?!?!?! and i cant do an emergency run from Edinburgh to Bristol with 5 kids to see my critically...

    Electric cars.

yep, welcome to the new world order of money grabbing to fill an ever increasing theoretical 'black hole' by the labour government. if it moves, it'll get taxed. if it moves and is owned by someone other than a poor minimum wage worker, it'll get taxed more. Green and net zero? pah, not a...

    iPace

All started by Mercedes in the early noughties. Shocking paint, no rust proofing and cheap assed electrics. Leading to better build quality at the expense of design quality from 2010 to try and retain the sales A trick picked up on and perfected by JLR since about 2010, but without any nod to...

Man Cave, who has one ?

I shared my office during COVID, wife's a teacher so was doing online lessons....never ever again! It's impossible to try concentrating on a finance spreadsheet or having a conversation with a customer about a contract, when she is blathering away about ***-ed or healthy plate to a bunch of 13...

Man Cave, who has one ?

Hahahaha Do you want the honest answer? Actually the honest answer is I do. We have games evenings with teenage mini-me, strictly nights etc, but it's awfully nice to have a purpose built office for working from home and to have a place where I can go one or two nights a week and game or brew...

Man Cave, who has one ?

Man cave, office and brewery It's now a bit more cluttered than these pics, as this was just after I had finished building the room

    Electric cars.

That's a belting price for a new car, I test drove one before I plumbed for the Tesla and was very impressed with it. Just let down imho by underwhelming performance (I'm a petrol head ) so I was prepared to sacrifice comfort for a bit more powaaaaar

    Nicks90's Brewdays

AG159 Winter Warmer Still not go around to doing my HB order so very much the dregs of the barrel for this last brew. Its coming up to winter, so a beer with suitable blackness and chewy aftertaste is required! Bit of a mishmash of ingredients - and yes that is mushrooms you are seeing in the...

    Electric cars.

Hey, I resemble that remark! However I do carefully add up the total wattage and ensure it never exceeds 10amps. I have an 8 gang extension in my office that powers my pc, 3 monitors, usb dock, speakers, back up NAS drive and laptop dock. If everything pulls full power it comes to 1200w, so...

    What will this taste like..

Two burning questions... 1) how big is your shed that you LOST a corny keg for 13 years! 2) how can you have not cleared out and sorted your man shed in 13 years! Disgraceful

    My new (complicated) fermentation vessel

How do you lift that in to the fridge when it's full of beer?

    Closed Transfer Wine Making

Orrrrrrrrr, do what they have done for centuries and not use anything but yeast and time to achieve a wonderful bottle of wine. I rarely use anything at all in my wines, other than zapping nasties in the fruit during the first 24hrs before adding yeast. If you want a fast turnaround, then yes...

    Yeast Experiment Recipe.

As others have said, probably too much crystal in there. Id drop the 150 ebc crystal entirely . Id also not bother with S-04, pretty pointless yeast for an IPA, especially if you are using notty in another batch. Personally I'd use the VIPA in the fermenter for the big batch, the kviek in a DJ...

    Blackberry and elderberry wine day

@Wrh as an ankou has said, no wrong way of doing it 1kg sugar and about 2kg of fruit per demijohn (4.5l) is a good general rule of thumb. Personally I rarely use pectolase, as I find it clears itself over time and I generally don't bottle it until I've hit 6 months. By that time it's crystal...

    Nicks90's Brewdays

Don't like it. Flavour is at isn't quite right, like I've put two opposing hops in, and it's too bitter. Always worth trying a new hop, but I won't be trying this one again. Just not my cup of tea. Pretty sure I didn't screw up the measurements, so either they are more bitter than the packet...

    Blackberry and elderberry wine day

As usual about this time, I drag all my berries out of the freezer and do my annual wine making day. Been a really good year for blackberry down our lane, and the birds haven't totally decimated my elderberry tree, so managed to gather 3.8kg of blackberries and 1.4kg of elderberries As it's a...
