    Dampfbier - say wha'?

So as the Leffe Radieuse is likely to be taking up space for a few months, I wondered what I might be able to brew that would be quick, easy, light, refreshing for the summer. Thoughts brought me to a hefeweizen, but sadly, I have no malted wheat in stock. What about a user-upper of some...

    Leffe Radieuse Clone

I will turn the heater on then! I did do a Google search on Belgian temps (and I also looked in the James Morton 'Brew' book and all of his are 18c) and it was a lower end of the range. Thanks

    Strange facts.

Talking of Edinburgh, it reminded me that of the three country capitals of Britain, Edinburgh is the western-most.

    Strange facts.

I had to look that one up - that is bizarre.

    Newbie first brew

Perfectly normal. The 'crud' sits on the foam as CO2 is released from the fermentation process. When the foam dies down, the crud sticks to the side of the fermenter, so you may see the ring sit slightly higher than the top of the beer. There are articles and videos on the 'net on how to read...

Badger: Cranborne Poacher & using jam

Found a load of these still in the "conditioning cupboard'. Thought I'd stick a couple in the fridge for sh!ts and giggles. I have tried the odd one over the intervening couple of years.... not pretty. So..... how are they now, bearing in mind we are now two years on? Well, the overwhelming...

    Early internet.

I used to install BT video conferencing systems that ran on those dedicated 64/128k ISDN lines. Now everyone has video calling in the back pocket anywhere in the world pretty much. Amazing really.

    Sweet/desert stout recipe help

This is the drink that introduced me to not drinking lagers and ultimately to take up the hobby of brewing, so I have a soft spot (geddit?) for this. Tiny Rebel Stay Puft Porter They even give you a hint to the recipe

    UKSkydiver's Brewdays

It turns out that I made a bit of a faux pas and used the wrong bag of malt for this brew, accidentally using the lager malt instead of the maris otter. Ah well..... C'est le via. Update: Yeasties chomping away with a krausen and CO2 production within 6 hours of pitching. Pretty good for a...

I've made a massive boo boo

Yes. Sorry. The title reads like a click bait web site saying 'You won't believe what happened next' or 'This is some D List celebrity, this is what they look like now'. Anyway, I digress. Yesterday I brewed an Old Thumper clone using Maris Otter as the base malt..... except I found this...
