Grain Mill - care & maintenance

Thanks everyone for the responses. Hadn't even considered something as simple as a brush, lol. Common sense often escapes me :laugh8: I think I may well store it inside as well, I've got room in my airing cupboard that will be nice and toasty warm.

Grain Mill - care & maintenance

Hey all So for my recent anniversary my wife kindly (after strict instructions and the correct link) bought me a 3 roller grain mill from the chaps at Malt Miller (with some grain too!). I used it at the weekend for a Peat Smoked Porter, and I absolutely love it. I'm not sure if it was the...

    Wine kit value for money

Would be interested in the delivery charge to the highlands please @kelper as I'd quite like to try these in my next red - although got enough bottled at the moment to last me about a year at least, I like beer too much!

    Which conical?

If you can stretch your budget (or your wife’s, or you go halves!) I’d highly recommend the SsBrewtech Chronical. Bit of bling in a way but I absolutely love it and how easy to use, clean, pressurised transfer, harvest, etc. I have a few vids online with various processes - search brewbru on...

    Osprey's first Brewzilla Brew Day

Bit late to this thread, but I've got a few vids on my YouTube channel using the Robobrew (aka Brewzilla) - feel free to take a look, and I'm happy to answer any questions you might have. It's definitely a steep learning curve and today I've been recording a vid which will help with some of...

    All grain - dummy's guide

Thanks everyone for the comments. I have to admit there are some things here I’ve not even heard of lol!! Maybe I need to do a part 2 when I figure out the answers 😂 And thanks for the comment on the videos @Doublediamond - really appreciate it! I really enjoy making them. The difficult bit is...

Crusty deposits in my SS conical FV

I had similar thing on my chronical, and a good scrub with BKF and elbow grease did the trick. While I didn’t find it affected the taste of my brews I’m sure I was getting ‘dandruff’ deposits in my beer.

    All grain - dummy's guide

Hey all I've been all grain brewing for a couple of years now, and one of the things I struggled with the most from the beginning was the amount of new terminology I had to learn. Sparging. Mashing. Mash tun. Strike water. HLT. And so on. A friend of mine (who's relatively new to brewing...

    Comparing hop prices

I started something similar a couple of months back but not just tracking hops, tracking some of the core essentials and also included differences in postage based on weight and (importantly for me) - highland charges. Probably won't have time for the next 10 days or so do incorporate into your...

BrewBru - my home brew YouTube videos

Latest one live on yeast harvesting! Enjoy. As an aside, it looks like these posts don't end up in the daily email that gets sent out - is that correct or is there some other magic at play here that I'm missing? :)

Brewing with river water.. Good/bad idea

I made a batch of beer last year with water from my local river (Thurso River). I used to drink the water as a child (and still do!) when out fishing, as long as it was flowing. The water is constantly being purified as it runs over rocks, through gravel, sand, etc. I made sure the water was...

    Elderflower Ale Suggestions?

Had the first glass of the elderflower ale recipe which @Edison shared previously. Only difference was I upped the elderflower to about 100-120g as wanted something quite flowery. It is an absolute belter!! The smell is floral and you can tell straight away it’s elderflower but it’s there on the...

June Forum Comp - Dark Beers

I'd echo what the others have said - thanks @Oneflewover for all your hard work. I know you'd have enjoyed tasting the beers, but then most of us just enjoy sitting back and drinking them - all of the tasting notes, ensuring you send feedback to the correct person etc. (do this when sober lol!)...
