    Buffalo let me down

My 40l buffalo boiler kept switching on and off throughout the boil today. Not sure what difference it will make to the Big Kenny it was meant to be boiling. I'm hoping it's because there is some scale build up in the centre of the base. I think i read somewhere that this can be dealt with by...

    buying chiller vs DIY

Also the twin coil chiller cools quicker, uses less water and is a work of art. It's like owning stainless instead of plastic. :D

Hello all. If i end up having the day off on Friday i shall be in the shed (defo no tv for me). I have a couple of q's that are on my mind. 1. When kegging a stout do i still need to add sugar. If yes, what amount for 23l? 2. Planning to try the Big Kenny but i don't think my LHBS has any Bobek...

I'm a bit pleased. It smelt good and tasted good. FG should have been 1008 but was 1010. That was with 2 weeks @ 20 degrees. So now the FV is freed up i can go for AG#2 planned for tomorrow night. Thanks all  Orange

Burco C30STHF 30 litre safety boiler OR New Brupaks Boiler

Another vote for the 40l Buffalo. Mine is fitted with ball valve ( made hole slightly bigger with grinding stone in drill), and hop filter(flexible tap connector now in bin). I have only done 1 AG brew in it but; It does a good rolling boil, no electrical worries, plenty of room for a 25l brew...

    Increasing ABV question

Weight of hops = EBU x 10 x Volume, divided by AA% x utilisation. I used an estimate of 29% for the utilisation and came up with 45.6g of northdown hops. I can't believe i just did that, Thanks guys Orange
