    Cask conditioned brew?

I've often wondered if it's possible to use a hand pump with Cornelius kegs under high pressure? I don't want my beer to go flat, I'm not fussed if CAMRA approve :), but I can't drink 4 gallons of beer in one sitting ( although I do my level best ).

    Blackpool brewing

Not sure about your specific question, but if you don't know, there's an excellent home-brew shop (Something Brewing) next to the bookies on St Albans road in St. Annes. He's open every day except Sunday and Wednesday as far as I know. Wilko's in town sells some stuff too. There's also a chap in...

    Corny kegs for £34.95

Yeah, I tend to whack mine up to 40PSI and put them in the shed for a while. It's so cold overnight that they clear really well, but I think there is a bit of sediment in the first pull.

    Corny kegs for £34.95

I just draw off half a pint and chuck it down the sink. The rest should be clear. The bottoms are shaped so the beer is funnelled toward the outlet tube, so the sediment will come out first.

    Corny kegs for £34.95

I've just ordered two of these, to go with my existing two, I'm very chuffed.

    Greene King IPA

i like Wainrights too - it tends to be on tap in all the same pubs as Greene King IPA, near me at least.

    Greene King IPA

Ah sorry, I misunderstood. Thanks - I was hoping somebody would say that.

    Greene King IPA

I know it's got a bad rep, and I know it's not a good example of an IPA, but as a beer I think it's a great session ale. Really light but creamy with a decent flavour. Anyway, I'm not trying to convert anybody to it - I'm just wondering if anybody knows what makes it both light and creamy -...

    Greene King IPA

Hi, I was drinking Greene King IPA in the pub last week and I was wondering how it manages to be so smooth, yet so light at the same time. Does anybody have any ideas? I was wondering if it's served using 70/30 nitrogen rather than 100% co2. I'd love to replicate something like it at home.

Adding wood shavings to the brew?

If it helps, some wine kits have oak shavings - you might be able to buy them from the wine section of your LHBS. The instructions on those kits suggest that they impart flavour during the normal fermentation time of around 2 weeks. The smaller the shavings, the more surface area per weight, so...

    Corny keg

Something to bear in mind. You'll need a Co2 canister and a regulator - the S30 bottles aren't high enough pressure. I ended up paying £70 all-in for my canister. Finding somewhere to sell you one is a pain, but getting them refilled is easy. I got my Co2 cylinder from gascylindersuk.co.uk

    Dry Hopping

I do, but I didn't think this was *that* strong, but it wasn't subtle either.

    Dry Hopping

    It tastes amazing btw.

I put the sugar in too late for the secondary

The yeast should still work, maybe it would take a bit longer than if you'd done it straight away, I'm not sure. Does your beer taste sweet? If so, your yeast hasn't got going. If it's not very sweet then your barrel has a leak. The sediment will settle again, I assume faster than the first...

Cleansing & sanitising - will this do it?

I'm sure rainwater has sand in it - that's the stuff that makes your car dirty after it rains.

    Corny Keg Questions

Sorry I completely forgot to reply. I tried this on Friday and it was excellent.

    Old ale

No, the liquid in the kits is what comes out when you sparge ( although in the tins it's very concentrated so they don't have to send you a couple of gallons of liquid ). The process is basically: Mash the grains ( ie: soak them in water at around 70c depending on recipe ) for a while, Extract...

    Corny Keg Questions

I've had a beer shortage, so I haven't had a chance yet. I'll be trying it tonight. I've also ordered a new cornie to prevent future beer-shortage mishaps.

    Corny Keg Questions

That's the right size for my setup - 3/8 from keg, 5/16 to tap - I have a brass compression fitting there at the minute, so I'll just swap that for this.
