Is the internal wiring for the Maxi 110 the same as for the Maxi 310?

I've got a hacked maxi110 that can do the heating as well as cooling via an stc controller. However! the chiller has died a death so I'm thinking of upgrading to a maxi310. My question is whether I can just copy the wiring in the maxi110 to transfer the stc etc??

Calculating sodium - is it possible?

So.. I received a water report from Murphy & Son, but it doesn't provide an amount for sodium. Is it possible to calculate the sodium from the other values? These are: Ca 15.12ppm, Mg 2.24ppm, SO4 11.24ppm, Cl 20.5ppm and HCO3 53.68ppm. I'm guessing not.. Does anyone know of a lab that does...

    How long does homebrew last?

Hello! Has anyone ever come across a definitive answer to how long bottled beer keeps for? I know that high alcohol stuff lasts longer, but I'd like to know what it would be for something around 4%. The information I've been able to find seems to suggest anywhere between three and 12 months. I...

    how long cask condition for?

I've been letting my beer sit in casks for four weeks before tapping. Is this too long? I condition bottles for four weeks, so thought it would be the same for casks. Starting to doubt myself though!

    Storing dried yeast

Hello! I've bought a big bag (500g) of dried Nottingham ale yeast to save monies. My question is, do I need to store the yeast in a sanitised container once the bag is opened? Or can I just tip it into a clean tupperware box? Also - when I measure the yeast out, do spoon and receptacle need to...

    Shives - imminent disaster?

Hello! I've just filled a new pin up with beer and whacked the shive in. As hard as I tried, the shive didn't end up flush with the top of the pin. Is this ok? It seems like it's in pretty far. I took a couple of pics to illustrate.. Should I be worrying about it coming out do you think?

Fruit in secondary - when will it end?!

I've added apricots to my secondary, which has been merrily bubbling away for a week. I'm starting to wonder if there might be some sort of infection.. How long (roughly) do the sugars normally take to ferment out?

    help! q-max cutter size

Hello, I'm ordering some immersion heating elements for my hlt. The mechanical flange is 2 1/4 inches. My question is whether I need a 2 1/4 inch q-max cutter to make the hole??? Or should I go bigger? Or smaller? I don't want to buy the wrong size and make a girt hole that I can't unmake. If...

Moving to a place of unknown water composition

I did have a look at the South West Water website but there wasn't anything useful to be found. Seemed mostly to be advice about using less water!

Moving to a place of unknown water composition

Hello all! If plans come together I'll be moving to Ilfracombe (or somewhere nearby) in a month or two. My question is whether anyone here knows what the water is like there? I'm pretty sure that it's a soft water area but I'm hoping to get specifics about the amount of magnesium, sodium...
