Thanks guys, hydrometer is working well and reading has very slowly gone to 1018. Ive repitched a youngs yeast and nothing dramatic has happened, I'll leave in the fermenter for another week or so. and see what happens...i think its frustrating that the instructions are pretty naff...i'm sure...
