    AG#21 M.O. Lager

I completely agree with you. I'm gonna be doing my 10th AG next weekend and I dont see the need to adjust my Ph. The beers I make are good enough for me so why get even more technical? Seems like too much work and expense if you ask me. I dont even treat my water. May be I'm just hitting all...

    AG#21 M.O. Lager

Be interesting to see how this turns out. I know you can use Marris Otter for lagers but need to adjust the Ph but I dont even know how to do that yet. Just got some Lager grains for mine. So far so good. Good luck!

    My first Lager - Brew No.8 - 23.01.09

Update: After 12 days its down to 1.018 I think its going a bit slow as the temprature dropped to around 8 degrees or less, slowing the fermentation.

Birthday soon, so bought more stuff - Oatmeal Stout again

Hi everyone, Since the Oatmeal Stout was such a success, I wanted to get another batch going as I have since run out. Bought a few bits and pieces for my Birthday to up the amount I can brew. Not a big jump but will give me a bit more to work with. So what I was thinking......bought some...

    Another done...Brew No.9 - Amber Gold 25.01.09

Well id didnt overflow but was close. Hahaha quite a good trick to get rid of the crud on the top of the wort.....let it stick to the underside of the lid.

    Temperature for storring beer?

If you store it at that temp it will probably over carbonate, so I believe. Under Stair cupboard?

    Another done...Brew No.9 - Amber Gold 25.01.09

Unfortunatly no....I'll just let it overflow, like the Oatmeal Stout. Gotta get another Oatmeal Stout made, it was excellent!

    Another done...Brew No.9 - Amber Gold 25.01.09

Since my Oatmeal stout is finished I made an amber ale. Starting gravity of 1.040 Changed the recipe a bit and used 15g each of Goldings and Fuggles hops for aroma. Also added a small bit of sugar to bring the gravity up. 4.70 kg Pale Malt (2 Row) UK (3.0 SRM) Grain...

    My first Lager - Brew No.8 - 23.01.09

Thought I would try and brew a basic lager for a change. 3.00 kg Lager Malt (2.0 SRM) Grain 71.4 % 0.50 kg Cara-Pils/Dextrine (2.0 SRM) Grain 11.9 % 0.40 kg Corn, Flaked (1.3 SRM) Grain...

Brewing Lager for the 1st time, is bottling the same as Ale?

I think I may have found the answer. Storing at room temps give the beer carbonation, yup I know this already, so I would leave the Lager at room temps for two weeks then Lager them in the bottles at low temps. Just wonder if since I'm using S23 yeast the temperature would only need to be...

Brewing Lager for the 1st time, is bottling the same as Ale?

Gonna be getting a lager started tonight and I'm a bit unsure about bottling. I have made lots of Ale and bottled this with great success, but do I store them differently? Usually I would store the Ale in the warmth after bottling to start secondary fermentation, then move them to the garage...

    Oatmeal Stout

This does sound a good one. I cant decide if I should brew this on Friday or one of my own that I have just flung together. Hmmmm......really fancy trying a stout...my Caledonia 80 turned out a lot more like a stout and it was good. May be sound a stupid question but where's the best place to...
