    Boxshed Hop Juggler (BHJ) ~ 19 March 2009 [w/photos]

Guess what? It all went just fine - sorry about that! 25L at 1.041 and a cunning new answer to filtering those pellets. But tired now - most of the cleaning can wait!

    Boxshed Hop Juggler (BHJ) ~ 19 March 2009 [w/photos]

For a bit of fun, I'm going to update this brew evening in stages during the evening, because there's a pretty high chance of a cock-up. I'll have to do it on my blog though, so that I can use the Wordpress app on my iPhone. Nothing has gone very wrong yet...

    Hop Growing

Is this the best thread for this year's hoppiness? My second year bines - WGV, Fuggles and Bramling Cross - are all now out of the ground and wondering whether or not it's warm enough to start tackling the fence!

    Aluminium!

If I ever need a new HLT I would imagine I'd go for alluminium. The vessels are strong and cheap and an HLT can be cleaned with hot and cold water alone, pretty much. My copper will be stainless steel because I can imagine cleaning it with all manner of chemicals and nasty stuff in time. I...

    Brupaks Stainless Steel Tanks

It's the website I think. I buy plenty of other supplies from them and find Patsy very friendly, but anything that goes through that site is a bit dodgy and generally ends up with a phone order backup. On this occasion I really needed to write all the various elements down, so it went pear...

By the way, H&G never responded to my lengthily written enquiries, so Nordic and BES got my money instead.

New shiny stainless 70L boiler project!

"I'm so excited! I just can't hide it! I'm about to lose control and i think I like it!" *Ahem* Guess what? Today my new brewpot arrived and suddenly the boiler project is go!. I'm stupidly excited by the scale of the whole thing! Might take a while, but hell, it's a very cool thing.

    AG #4 Valenwood Summer Ale

Huh! How much effect does that zest addition have on the final beer? VERY interested!

newkie brown & yorkshire bitter kits

Haha - great thread. I love experimental kit brewing and I think you're spot on with substituting sugars and adding hops to suite your own tastes. In my experience, kits need a lot more aeration and rousing , and love plenty of time to mature and condition, but they definitely repay any time...

    Landlubber (TTL Style) ~ 05Mar09

Aha yes, it still had the circular swirl and slight head from the siphon. It's as still as mill pond now, although hopefully with better flavour... Will keg it at the end of the week.

15th March 2009 Effin Adnams Southwold Bitter

Sounds good. Adnams Bitter would definitely be my desert island pint (although because I get to drink it less often, I'd say Dark Star Hophead would be the pump clip to make me smile the most in any pub). Yes, Adnams switched to Boadicea a year or more ago now. Regular drinkers noticed the...

Gentlemen (and ladies), always check your tackle.

Sorry to hear about you injury - you couldn't have foreseen that one. Very bad. Get well soon. Ps. Was the brew okay, that's the main thing...

I lost patience with US-05's lethargic glugging and gave the whole thing a good stir about an hour ago. Seems to be responding well. Smelly old stuff (in a good way)
