    Some People Just Dont Understand.

Have you considered you may have become beer snobs? :) This happened to be with music decades ago but maybe that's different, cause I oddly found a lot of the pop I had ignored and avoided somewhat pleasing later. Granted listening to the best hits of the best hits 10 years later purifies the...

More images of brewing, bottling and final result =)

As a random off topic, I understand the red/purple hue as the IR filter on your camera lens. Don't ever be conn'ed buying a digital camera that can see infra-red. Most all of them can. They actually put a filter over the lens to filter it out cause it makes photos look weird. The filter is...

Corny O Ring seal kit in UK?

Thanks Aleman I ordered all but the lid ring. Simply because, not only did I lose free postage when I added it to the cart, but I lost the ability for them to ship by Royal Mail! As I live across the water in NI, Royal Mail is same price, but DPD or Shitilink charge £16.50!

Corny O Ring seal kit in UK?

One of my Cornies has a leak. It's holding only 4 PSI, anymore and it just wastes CO2. I know it might probably just be a bad seal in the lid, but the gas disconnect has become very, very stiff to get on or off and so it could be that O ring has been damaged. There are only a few pints left...

    First AG Ale is boiling...

Sorting out a local supply of Maris Otter first. The local "nature foods" place has started doing grain, but she ordered whole, intending on crushing it herself, now she realises how much work that is and is going to order it crushed. She didn't like the sounds of milling a 25Kg bag for me. :)...

    My new Voltage controller :)

I feel I should point out, my mishap was obviously not caused in any way by Cyclops post. I honestly appreciate his work. The actual boiler controller continued to function and I just completed my first all grain with only losing about 3 litres in the boil due to the controller keep the...

    First AG Ale is boiling...

Update: Everything went too well right up until the last moment and the boiler tap clogged with 6 litres to go. Ended up having to tip the contents into the fermenter. Trub and all :( The cause was not leaving it enough to allow the cold break to settle and moving the wort chiller about and...

    First AG Ale is boiling...

Woohoo! Devil's Red Ale. BIAB 20 litre batch. 4Kg Maris Otter, 500g 60L Crystal, 15g Target (90min), 25g Motueka (20min). Nottingham Ale yeast. Mash started a bit hot (70C) I had no room to add ice or water, so I left the lid off and let it cool to 65C which is did in about 20 minutes, then...

    My new Voltage controller :)

Mine went bang. Wired as yours was. I gathered the voltmeter runs off 230V so I left it on the mains in side. Red to brown, black to blue. Looks like a capacitor exploded in the voltmeter. Several of the reviews on Amazon say the same thing happened to them. The seller on ebay has cleared...

    Best pressure kegs and why

But for £28, you could just use a metal rod and attach a length of dish cloth.

Cutting holes in plastic DIY boxes.

You guys will come in very useful if the Internet goes to pot in any way. HAM-Packet switched networks. Or TCP/IP over HAM radio. You certainly won't be delivering NetFlix videos but basic communications such as bulletin boards and email is very possible and useful. There have even been real...

Cutting holes in plastic DIY boxes.

Well I decided to just buy a drill. Got the 25mm holesaw, job done. Cutting the square hole was a little more difficult, the clutch has gone in my dremel again, it won't cut the disc just stops. So I drilled a few holes and cut the rest out with a hacksaw blade.

I "should" get my HAM license as I own a 435Mhz transmitter and I shouldn't. Though I think I've used it about 3 times, for 15 minutes each time. It's just that the non-HAM bands available at the time were 35Mhz and 2.4Ghz. I was already using 2.4Ghz to down link video, and I found 35Mhz...

But the Italian "AEB" clones are becoming more readily available at around £60-80.

    Best pressure kegs and why

How much do you spend on gas bulbs and how long does it take to carbonate the keg? I have 2 cornies and I spend £17 every 6 months for a fire extinguisher refill. If I'm at a push I can take beer from the FV to serving in about 24 hours. Set up cost is of course much higher, the cornies are...

    Alcohol %

Depends on the size of the bottle. 10g per litre makes a fizzy ale. A teaspoon is about 6g, depends on the teaspoon though. A leveled off measuring spoon is about 6g, but even then it depends on the granule size. This is why batch priming is so much easier. * Sanitise a bucket and a bowl. *...

Cutting holes in plastic DIY boxes.

Thanks guys, I'll try HomeBase first tomorrow night on the way home. I think I'll need to "see" and buy, I can't trust the online descriptions as they don't tell me much about the adapter and whether it will fit the dremel chuck. I don't have the normal chuke adapter for it. Marking it with a...

Cutting holes in plastic DIY boxes.

This is a very newbie (to DIY) question, but when you have a plastic enclosure box for electronics, how do you cut the holes for cable glands and displays etc. I currently only have a dremel and while I can drill holes with the drill bit I don't believe I can round that whole out to 25mm and...
