    CO2 Regulator help.

Hi Guys, I bought a regulator a few years back and have only just tried it out. I'm having issues. Hopefully the image below works. It's supposed to be a two stage regulator. The outlet for the primary stage is sealed with a grub screw, the seconds stage has a pressure gauge and the...

    Basic plastic tap

Does anyone know where I can buy a basic tap for my corny keg to fit 3/16" line? My little party tap has developed a leak. Best I can find is one of ebay for £10, but that sounds a bit dear.

How many gallons of homebrewed beer in 2014?

5 gallons of red ale. 1648 (or 1698 if Dave wants his addition above to be included)

    BIAB Bag material

I just bought 5 gallon paint strainer bags made out of net curtain material. Downside is they were fairly expensive, but it's a one of purchase as they are reusable obviously. I think I paid 12.99 for 4 x 5 gallon bags.

    PET bottling advice

You only get the first pour clear and even then sometimes that doesn't work either. The problem with PET is it expands, unlike glass. So if you carbonate in a plastic bottle the bottle expands, the yeast cake forms at the bottom, but when you open the bottle it shrinks and dislodges the yeast...

    pc building

I have done this for 20 years. Built about 50 PCs of differing specs. The two tricky things are understanding the specs of individual components and understanding the sockets/slots/interfaces/buses/specs etc that make them compatible or not. The best way to learn is to browse sites like...

Pretty interesting article on the 'freshness' of beer

We are in charge of the aging process. Commercially bought beer will be bottled after "aging" or whatever chemical process they call aging. So arguably as a mega-homebrew expert you would age your beer for 6, 12, 18 weeks until you are happy it has met it's full potential, then you would...

    First AG Ale is boiling...

Well, the keg is now in the fridge and I have had my first few pints of the brew. Wow! Lovely! It has a taste that is new to my brews, I can't decide if it's just "organic" and expected or an off flavour. It's kind of a "toastie", "cereally", "bread" like taste. It's certainly not a problem...

    First AG Ale is boiling...

Be warned, Target is potent! The first time I used it I put 20g in. It made everyone who tried it "make a face". It grows on you though, so they also finished the beer. I made the same mistake recently having forgot how strong it is and the effect was the same. Initial shock followed by...

    yeast pitching temperature, oops!

I was assuming the OP put the yeast in to the wort at 24C with the intention of cooling the wort down to 18-20. Pitching temp is less important, within reason, than the initial ferment temp which is fairly critical for off flavours. So as long as the beer cools down before the yeast become...

    yeast pitching temperature, oops!

No. 24 is fine. I've put the yeast in at 30*C before now and it was fine. Just try and lower the temp now down to 18-20.

    First AG Ale is boiling...

Woohoo, it's in the keg! 15 days in FV. Tasted the sample and it only made me impatient as to how it will turn out in a few weeks of conditioning in the keg. Tastes like red ale as it should and barely a suggestion of any off flavours. Came out a little high on the FG, at 1015, but that may...

Touche, 21st, but it can happen on 20th-22nd depending on many variables... according to wikipedia :) Not forgetting that it happens in June in Australia.

Fosters ... can be interesting for a cheap summer swill beer, the only problem I have with it is that the next morning I have caramel farts.

    Some People Just Dont Understand.

Christmas is religious? I thought it was all about winter losing and spring coming. 22nd of December is the longest night of the year and when the night finally loses to the day which lengthens, warms and brightens from then on. That's something to celebrate, give thanks for and share. Just...
