    What beer equiptment kit?

Hi, it sounds like you may need to give extract, or partial mash a try. I am currently doing extract with a view to getting in to AG next year. With extract you have the freedom of playing around with recipes, using hops and specialty grains (ones that you steep - not mash), the main...

    A couple n00b questions

I think i got a pack from Morrisons for about 3.99, but can't remember, but my LHBS do their own for under £4 http://www.leylandhomebrew.com/item2196.htm Admittedly you'd have to pay postage, but for me it is only a slight detour on the way home from work.

    A couple n00b questions

Def little bottler, sometimes also called bottling wand or bottling stick, i do not have taps on my FVs, but is something i am considering. currently i siphon off using a peice of silicone tube with a little bottler attached. You could siphon off in to the barrel and use the tap on the barrel...

    A couple n00b questions

Sorry didn't read that well enough, the one on the link comes with it, but the woodfords comes with more useful bits IMO.

    A couple n00b questions

I have never tried any of these kits, but from what ive reat the woodfords is a 2 barrel kit, which members seem to prefer. I think that it is probably better that the coopers but i have no experience of either, you'll need some brew kit enhancer at an aditional £4 for the coopers i think...

    A couple n00b questions

Hi, i too bottle my brews as i find it easier to store and move around, i can also leave a few to age and see how well the ageing process affects the brews. In terms of bottles most ale bottles will be fine, there are some lightweight bottles that probably should be avoided, but i am yet to come...

I have always wanted to grow my own cider apples for cider - just out of interest how many trees has this come from, or are they all collected from different people?

Help! - Cocked up first extract brew.

Yes i recall looking at guides on harvesting yeast. I think i probably will do another batch of this size as i think its quite a good batch size to play with and allow mistakes - and i'm running out of bottles! Does it need to be air tight or just wrapped in clingfilm? Cheers

Help! - Cocked up first extract brew.

Cheers Rob Thank god for that - golden ale sounds good. The smell of it is amazing, so i'll just go and pitch my yeast now, I have a sachet of US05, which says for 20 - 30 litres, i have about 12, should i split it or just whack the whole lot in, it was quite expensive, but would it last if i...

    Adding hops to a kit

I Have a kit brewing in the moment, i am about to split the batch in to 2 separate fvs for secondary fermentation and dry hop each one with a different hop variety to see how they turn out. I have never done it so i have no experience but from reading around the forums and other internet...

First ever extract brew - do these recipes look any good?

One question, i quite like the idea of using a bit of wheat spraymalt for head retention and a bit of interest, do i add this to the spraymalt you have indicated in the recipe? for instance 1900g light spraymalt & 200g wheat spraymalt? Thanks again.

First ever extract brew - do these recipes look any good?

Cheers thejesmonddingo, this is brilliant, thank you very much. i'll give this a go, maybe with the lightest crystal they have at the lhbs. The only thing i was thinking about now is a mediumish belgian recipe, i have spotted a few so i'll look in to them. Thanks again. I can't wait to get...
