Square boiler with conical bottom tap

I'm having one made for free - by my father in-law (who i'm living with while i look for a new house - so i'm consious of not taking up too much space), that said he knows he'll get free beer when done! I think around 100 ltr to cope with around 80 ltr brew length max but thin enough to do a 23...

Square boiler with conical bottom tap

Sorry about boiling dynamics etc, but there's always someone who comes in with something ultra scientific. Just want a good boiler with a good boiling roll - my 15 ltr plastic bucket works a treat but is too small.

Square boiler with conical bottom tap

As the title suggests I'm having a boiler built so I'm thinking is a square boiler a problem? Is it just that cleaning is a bit of a chore or is ther something else to do with boiling dynamics or circulation that make circular more popular? I want a mesh lining inside for a hop strainer and so...

Found: Wild hops in W London. Any ideas?

Good luck, i too have discovered some feral hops - i am unsure whether they are wild or just a discarded plant that has thrived, i too tried to google how to identify them but i think it is a no go. Unfortunately it is near my work so i have to use my lunch half hour to pick them which isn't...

    The best boiler

Great cheer fil, this is kind of what om thinking. I don't want to get it made then find in a years time i want a bigger one, but then again i dont want it too small. I suppose tall and thin would get around the level of element - whenever i see commercial kettles they are usually quite wide is...

    The best boiler

    The best boiler

I think I have settled on a fairly conical bottom with a valve attached tere,I was thinking maybe a square boiler, then I may make the hot and mash tun square to - to save space. I know there is the Yorkshire square fermenter, but I prob just use plastic buckets - is there any prob with a square...

    The best boiler

Having spent a while searching through, is there a reason why not many (or none that i have seen do far) use a conical type vessel with the tap underneath as a boiler? wouldn't the hops sitting on top of the mesh inner act as a filter bed for the cold break and any other bits of ****? i think i...

    The best boiler

Hello, Having recently moved in with my in-laws whilst i look for a new house (with an outhouse for a brewery) i have done a few brews with my little plastic 15 litre setup - whilst my father in law looked on in bemusement. He owns a small engineering and fabrication company so he has said to me...

Liquorice Help - solid liquorice juice.

I just thought i'd update on this, have left it for a little while and it appears to be improving with age. Come out at about 7.2% and pretty damn tasty and not too heavy - probably not one for the purists, but then again i'm not a purist (i just want to brew stuff i like) although i think next...

Liquorice Help - solid liquorice juice.

That sounds good - whats a RIS imperial stout? I was also thinking about doing a liquorice bock when the temperature drops. I'll give an update when I try it - hopefully around Christmas as I want to see how it ages.

Now in fv, just a little note, after 10 mins liquorice had not fully dissolved - so if it works must remember next time to crush it.

Liquorice Help - solid liquorice juice.

Cheers, I'm brewing it now. Going to go with 15 grams in the last few minutes. I only brew 13 litre batches so I'll see what happens. I have discovered that some people actually call this brewers liquorice or Italian liquorice. Incidently I am brewing it with chocolate malt and a tad of...

Liquorice Help - solid liquorice juice.

I fancy brewing a liquorice porter and i have bought "100% liquorice juice" which is a black solid brittle stick of liquorice. I was wondering if anyone knows how to use this or should i just get a piece of root. I assume it dissolves but i have no idea how potent the flavour will be. I love...
