    Cold crashing

GerritT, Do I remove the jar of starsan but keep the blow off tube attached or remove everything and leave the hole exposed? I'm guessing you prefer to keep the hose attached with the valve fitted Gunge?

    Cold crashing

Can anyone help relieve concerns over cold crash suck back? I've been advised to CC at 1c or 2c for a week which I'm happy to do but has its my first go a bit nervous. All I've read is doom and gloom! I'm using a standard plastic FV with hole in lid for blow off pipe in fermentation fridge. I'm...

    Hop matter in fermenter.

Thanks Bezza, I'm only 3 days in and it appears to be going well. I'm not too familiar with cold crashing but will research it. Hop matter in fermenter.

Hi Mark thanks for your response. I'm using Wyeast 3787 trappist and pitched evening of 26th. I'm using a fermentation fridge with inkbird set at 22c. When I realised my heat problem I set up my fridge but could only get down to 20.4 so a little high but acceptable..i think. I've attached a...

    Hop matter in fermenter.

Hi all new brewer here and just wanted a little advice. I've recently brewed my first all grain but have a couple of concerns. I couldn't chill my wort down to pitching temperature only to 30c and noticed there was a lot of suspended pellet matter which all went in the fermenter. My intention...

    New to brewing Cheshire

Thanks Sadfield. I Really enjoyed researching the different methods and building it from scratch was quite rewarding. It's relatively cheap but will do me for now. A few changes needed, not a fan of the enclosed sparge arm and really struggled getting the temp down past 30c with my chiller. (Hot...

    New to brewing Cheshire

Well I've only gone and done it, my first all grain brew! Wow...what a long and stressful process. I've spent the last 4 months learning the brewing process from a newbie perspective, I decided to build a 23l set up and attempted a quick brew from Gregg Hughes 'the Bible'. It's currently...
