    Keg Washer.

Did you get the 10 cornies all in one go? I think if you can find a submerisible pump that says in the technical data a wide pH range go for it. All the submerisible pumps I looked at said basically the pH of water and not to use it with acids or caustic unfortunately.

BEST PLACE TO BUY FROM IN THE UK

I would recommend the Malt Miller as they have the best customer service I have seen. A little pricey on certain items but there is a really good range of quality products.

    Your "house" brew..

I always keep a house pilsner on tap. It's a very simply recipe of 4kg weyermanns pils malt, 10g saaz at start of boil for 90 mins and 90g flame out for 20 mins.

    Keg Washer.

Has anyone had any luck with one of the dirty water style submersible pumps such as the one LeeH posted a link for on ebay? I'm interested what kind of seals these use and if they are suitable.

    Keg Washer.

Cleaning and sanitised in one this is genius lol. Does all the gunk drip out the keg then?

    Keg Washer.

I'm at work at the moment but I can put some up later. I wanted to use a 400w submersible dirty water pump like other people I have seen making a keg washer, but all the stories of oil leaking and the tight pH range would mean you can't use chemicals in the water. That's why I went with the pond...

    Keg Washer.

Hi LeeH, I recently built one using a 3500L/h pond pump and 1/2 CIP rotary ball and it works great. I used 15mm copper pipe and fittings from pump to spray ball to keep it simple. The pump was only powerful enough for the cip ball so I used a separate pump for the posts to be cleaned.

    Safale K-97

I was debating using the same amount of hops for a 38L batch but wanted the hops to be very proud. Its my first brew with 2/3rds RO water aswell so not fair to use as just comparing the k97 yeast . What put you off brewing a kolsch or alt with the yeast?

    Safale K-97

Hi Jceg316, Im brewing an ipa inspired beer 18 litres with this yeast. It has 4kg marris otter(less than alcohol standard for ipa i know), 14g admiral first wort hops at 13.8 alpha. 100g willamette and 100g chinook for a 30 min steep at 75c and pitched k97 at 15.5c. It took off really well on...

Boil kettle element install through Base of 50l pot

I'm trying to weigh up the pros and cons for vertical mounted elements and so far the traditional way seems to be favoured, sometimes you have to keep it simple haha. The horizontal bottom position elements are mounted in has done me a good 20 odd brews fine i was just wondering of everybodys...

Boil kettle element install through Base of 50l pot

This could be a problem with a small brew Rogermort but if im doing minimum 18L batches in a 50L pot the elements should always be covered using small ring elements. I was more worried about the heat disipation to the liquid and how it would affect the boil or scorching with vertical upright...

Boil kettle element install through Base of 50l pot

Thanks for the replies. In using a pump and hop spider there shouldn't be problems with whirlpool or hops as i down allow them loose in the kettle and never touch anything in the pot during boil. I understand it wouldnt work with long elements but as these are the ring elements from argos...

Boil kettle element install through Base of 50l pot

Hi, I'm going to put together a new boil kettle with 2 cheap kettle elements. But I was thinking of drilling the holes in the base of the pot and mounting them through the bottom instead of the side as usually done. I already have a 50L boil kettle with 2 x side elements which works but It would...

My second all grain lager not refreshing

I havent cold conditioned yet as waiting to get my shed wired up for refrigeration up. Its been in the shed conditioning in the winter weather so far. I used w34/70 dry yeast pitched into a 2litre of 1035 gravity starter. Then decanted and pitched when the wort had cooled to 10c. Im using a 19l...

My second all grain lager not refreshing

I brewed with 4kg pilsner malt and half kilo munich mashed at 64c for 60min. 75 min boil. Fermented at 9c and raised for a rest to 18 after 10 days it still had loads of diacetyl so didnt keg until 3 weeks in primary. Since i have been all grain brewing i have had a problem with diacetyl...

My second all grain lager not refreshing

Hi all, I have only brewed about 5 all grain beers and my lagers arent refreshing like the commercial ones are. They taste okay so could this be due to lack of carbonation or bittering? I keg the beers and didnt use enough bittering hops and there is a slight taste of diacetyl.
