    Brewing Belgian beers

This was the post that helped me the most for making Candi syrup. I would say to go by smell when making it but use this strictly for your first attempt. It will smell awful until the DAP nutrient boils off though so make sure to open the windows. I would go for the darkest ones if making a...

    Carbonating RIS

Thanks for the tips. It looks like it should be reasonably safe to bottle as normal. Hopefully using the maple to bottle won’t cause any additional issues.

    Carbonating RIS

Ah ok that’d be easier. Is that still true of yeasts like WLP007? It’s defiantly one of the most focculant yeasts I’ve used and I dumped a lot of it out already. I guess it would be better not to cold crash this beer as well then?

    Carbonating RIS

Hey guys, A few weeks ago I brewed my first Imperial Stout (OG 1.113) it reached its FG of 1.036 after a week and a week or so later after dumping the trub I added rum barrel chunks and lot of Maple Syrup which fermented out over about 5 days. After that I also added a small mix of vodka with...

    September comp American pale ales

Happy with 2nd on my first comp entry . Looking forward to hearing feedback on it it. I think the crush may have been a little off on the oats I added as I missed my target OG and the body wasn’t quite what I was hoping for. Also want to add a few more whirlpool hops next time.

    Cool Brewing Bag

I was hoping to not post really and £10 was a bit of a guesstimate as I haven’t packaged it up and got a quote. Leyton is very near though as I’m on the side of Walthamstow closest to Leyton anyway. If that’s breaking any selling rules guys please let me know. Cheers

    Cool Brewing Bag

Thanks guys but due to the size of packing it up I don’t think I’d be able to post it for much less than £10. It’s not heavy just quite big. I can also meet in central London if that’s easier for anyone. Or I can drop off to a buyer at the homebrew con in London on November 24th.

    Cool Brewing Bag

Had this for about a year now but no longer need it as I’ve upgraded to a more elaborate setup. I generally had one to two frozen 2 litre bottles in it to keep the temps down during summer months and it does work very well for something so simple. Also used it to keep temps up with a hot...

Double Dry Hop - To dump or not?

Yes counting down to when I start crashing. Think its because this is the way I put it into my Beersmith recipes.

    September comp American pale ales

When's the final hand in date @stigman ? I've got an American pale that will be ready and carbed in a couple of weeks.

Double Dry Hop - To dump or not?

I've been double dry-hopping for a while now on hazy style pales. I always dump the yeast/trub before my first dry hop but was curious if others also dump off the old hops before adding the second dose of dry hops to avoid vegetal flavours etc? I'm currently dry-hopping on day 7 then do my...

    CO2 Cylinder nut size

Thanks for all the help guys. Really wish I bought the right regulator the first time but I ordered the regulator from keg kingdom on amazon prime at about 8pm yesterday and it arrived at 3pm today. Got home and fitted like a dream and is holding pressure well. The only thing it didn’t have...

    CO2 Cylinder nut size

Thanks Brian, I’m technically minded but unfortunately that’s just for sound engineering and electronics not gas asad1 I’ve got a desk mounted vice, PTFE and spanner at home so will give it a go. But I have just seen that keg kingdom are on Amazon prime so biting the bullet and paying a bit...

    CO2 Cylinder nut size

Damn thanks for that it’s really annoying as I’m obviously in a rush to get it sorted and was too hastey. Do you think I could just take the inlet nut off this one and put it on my other regulator?

    CO2 Cylinder nut size

Thanks for the replies guys. There was no way I was messing around with connections on this sort of pressure. It’s very confusing with all the names of the fittings. I spoke to a couple of welding companies, all of them told me that sourcing the nut would probably end up more expensive than...
