ARGGGGGHHHH!!! BACK TO SHOP BOUGHT BEER!

Thanks for the reponses, I have been using a steriliser from the home brew shop - powder you have to rinse, I have been doing the tap thoroughly as well, I am of the conclusion I must not have rinsed it well enough but its annoying after all that time. I have the coopers FV with the collar, its...

ARGGGGGHHHH!!! BACK TO SHOP BOUGHT BEER!

So my coopers ozzy lager is ok tasting and I was fairly pleased with it as my first effort. My muntons stout tasted good in fv despite the bits that stuck to the side but when bottling I noticed a slight tang but thought nothing of it. I went to shed yesterday (been in there two weeks...

Muntons Imperial Stoute - Is this normal?

So my stout has been in the fv for ten days now, being my second brew the crazy excitement factor has gone slightly so I have not been hugging my FV morning and night this time. Today I went to check the gravity (which was nicely down to 1.09 from 1.40) when I noticed what can only be described...

first brew - Coopers Australian Lager

Hi Andy, This was also my first brew (purchased from same place, what a bargain eh £35.00!) I started it on 2nd July and its now all bottled, I made the mistake of only using one carb drop in the 500mm bottles when it should have been 1 1/2 so you will need to get the sugar out! I tried a...

    Schoolboy Error?

:wha: I bottled my brew on Saturday a Coopers Lager and primed my 500ml bottles with one cooper carb drop per bottle. Some I added a small amount of sugar aswell as the drop but mainly they just had one drop. AFter finishing I noticed it was one drop per 350ml so was already concerned. Anyway...

    Keg, Barrell, Bottle?

So yesterday I bottled my first kit and it took what seemed like forever but its all done now and second brew is safely in the FV whilst the bottles are in the warm conditioning. All I can think of is how easy a keg would be in future but I have heard that ale goes off in barrells and you need...

First Brew.....so excited but..............nothing as yet

11 days in still sat at 1.012, time for bottling? Is there anything I have done wrong for it not to have gone lower? Also when bottling I am using the carbonation drops, are these as good as sugar and can I bottle in two batches so as to give the second lot of bottles time to sterilise or...

Thanks Slate Miner :thumb: It all sounds very promising, did you bottle with standard granulated sugar? Everyone says patience is key but when yoy have just started its is never going to be easy and you worry it might be going wrong

First Brew.....so excited but..............nothing as yet

Hi again all, So the bug has bitten and I have splashed out on a muntons imperial stout kit and a load of bottles and am just waiting for my FV to be free. My Coopers Oz lager has been in there 8 days now and is now down to 1.012 from 1.037 but I am concerned its not coming down quick enough as...

First Brew.....so excited but..............nothing as yet

OK so 3 days in and as per the instructions I cleaned the collar and checked a sample with the hydrometer......when I collected my sample via the tap it was FIZZY! So much so that the hydrometer sat at 1.021 until the fizz became too much and up she went! Is this all normal so far?

Hi All, So I spent hours looking through this forum soaking up the advice whilst plotting/dreaming about my first brew. Whilst saving up for a £70.00 starter kit I ran into the unbelievable Tesco offer of a Coopers Australian Lager Starter Kit for just £35.00 so I snapped it up along with a...
