    Just had a thought, if I want the ginger beer to be cloudy anyway, is it necessary to rack it at all?

    think I'm gonna syphon it into my seperate containers today then bottle it tomorrow, it's my bday on sunday so may well crack one open then and see what it's like!

    ok, I only have caster sugar so will have to use that, was wondering if it's worth dissolving it in some water, willl that aid the priming process?

    have a batch of fiery ginger beer almost ready to be bottled, was gonna add some sugar to the bottles to give it plenty of fizz, wasnt too sure as some people on the thread I got the recipe from mentioned drinking it almost right away, just wondered if it's gonna be fizzy enough without priming?

    indeedy, plus I've now got an almost unlimited supply of these containers in exchange for the occasional bottle of whatever I produce!

    Just been to a friend's cafe and got 4 20 liter plastic cooking oil containers with screw top lids, just gotta give em a bloody good wash out! RESULT!!!!!

    I dont have a secondary vessel, am thinking I'm gonna have to syphon it into a funnel lined with muslin and straight into the bottles!

    It's on day 9 now, checked it on weds and the gravity was 1022, checked it again on friday and it was 1012!

    it's on day 5 now and the fizzing and bubbling seems to have slowed right down! have sterilised my hydrometer so think I will check it today!

    Also I'm assuming as I dont have a sample jar or a tap on my FV, I'm guessing my best way to measure the gravity again will be to sterilise my hydrometer and put it directly into the brew?

    I was planning on putting everything into the brew bucket then putting the lid on with a bubbler airlock and then moving it to the garage for fermentation!

    I'm about to start brewing and my wife isnt keen on me taking up the dining room with my brew bucket so am having to make space in the garage,trouble is the garage is quite cluttered and a little dusty! is this gonna be an issue and do I need to clean the whole garage to make it suitable?
