fairly inexperienced myself, but i had a similar issue with wine. I just kept changing the air lock until it calmed down.

Well the first brew has slowed right down. so i took the opertunity to take a hydrometer reading tonight and got a result of 1.006. So if the original reading was correct that's ABV 3.5% before adding the sugar to the bottles, so if the Coopers instruction are right that should give a final...

have to say dead chuffed, this took a couple of days to get going but now its flying along, literally a bubble a second at 18 degrees...

The low reading was bugging me, i then looked at the hydrometer i was using and it was a salt water version (highest reading 1030). So i can only assume this is the cause of the low reading.

Mines still bubbling along nicely, as its my first kit im a bit concern it isn't clearing that well, but will monitor and see how it goes...

well, checked on the brew this morning and it has a massive head on it and is bubbling along... temp has settled at 24 degrees with the heating belt so all is good hopefully.

dont really understand why my OG is low I used the 1.7kg of malt, 500g of dextrose and 500g of light spray malt. It is a tiny bit over 23 litres but not by much???
