    My beer has improved but...

Hello, for the first time I used Coopers Light Malt extract(instead of sugar) and hops(Green Bullet & Saaz). Now I can definitely taste a difference than I could when I only used sugar & no hops. However, I'm wondering if the malt that has overpowered the hops?. If I remember rightly I...

    Heat mats, belts etc...

Yeah, why not. No I don't have one like that, but if its big enough to hold my 5 gallon fermenting bin and its not taking up much more space. Thanks

    Heat mats, belts etc...

I'll look into em because seems like that whole equipment is cheaper than that thermostat at Leyland Home Brew on its own

    Heat mats, belts etc...

Its not that I don't like it, I just thought it may be too advanced for me at this stage, but if its simple I'll consider it. I take it this is the best method?. I notice the water is less than half full in the container. So basically, the thermostat heats the water which heats the barrel...

    Heat mats, belts etc...

Well what should I use?. I have a fermenting bin, how can I keep this at right temperature?. I believe a heat mat isn't thermostatically controlled, a belt as someone stated you have to keep moving it up & down, so if I bought one of these...

Hey, thanks. Good pictures. I'm not upto this stage yet, maybe in the future. For now I just want summat simple. I'll probably buy a heat mat(tray) for starters.

Hello, which is best?. A mat(tray), belt or thermostat to keep beer at right temperature when fermenting?. Thanks

    Starting gravity...

Ok so my Tooheys lager is at 1st fermentation & nearly ready for barreling. I used Coopers Malt extract instead of sugar this time. Tooheys website says the SG should be 1012 if using malt extract, but 1006 if using sugar. Is this correct?.

    Using malt &/or sugar...

Right, ive just bought a Tooheys lager kit, Coopers malt extract, 1kg sugar, Green bullet & Saaz hops. Now the guy in the shop said I can use the malt extract instead of the sugar. "The more malt is in there, the better the taste" he said. He also said I could use half sugar & half of the...

    Improving flavour of beer kits...

Sorry to sound thick but why would one use a bittering and an aroma hop together? Is it not one flavour or the other, meaning you either want a bitter flavour or a flavoured beer?. I was thinking of trying Green bullet & Saaz, but again do I use em together or one or the other on their own?. Cheers

    Using hops in an ale

How many grams(or Ounces) per 23 litre(5 gallon) is the average needed?. Thanks

    Improving flavour of beer kits...

Is dry hopping better/more popular than boiling hops?. Im hearing a lot about "dry hopping". Im not new to home brewing, but new to fine tuning & improving my beer ie taking it a step further now.
