    Crafty Maltsters

I picked up a 25kg of Pops last week, Daniel (Son of Pop) couldn't have been more helpful, even took me on a tour of the operation, my next brew will be a Goose Islandish IPA using this malt so really looking forward to it, especially now that I have seen where it's grown, who's processing it...

    So who's growing chillies 2020?

Wow! That looks the business. Never heard of Draky before looks like it would be a good alternative to my Annaheim for adding bulk and flavour to my sauces.

    So who's growing chillies 2020?

    So who's growing chillies 2020?

Paper Lantern, Thai Dragon, Cayenne and Annaheim. I didn't put any Aji Limon in as there is still loads left over in the freezer from last year. To date I usually boil em, mash em and put them in a blender but after reading the thread about fermenting I shall have a bash at it this year. As...

    Ss brewtech Ball valve thread

Hi Guys! I have an Ss brew kettle and am attempting to put together the parts for a recirc sytem. I am looking at a quick disconnect from the three piece ball valve that came standard with the kettle but don't know the thread required to marry up to the valve output. 🤔

    Beer a touch too bitter.............

If you are Biab and squeezing the bag out after mashing then that could lead to a harshness/bitterness in the final result. When I first started Biab the advice was squeeze the thing dry and had some pretty bitter/harsh brews. Recently after reading somewhere that squeezing the bag is not a good...

    Ss Brew kettle mod

Thanks for your reply David, I'm getting in the region of 65/67% brew house eff. I crush my own at the usual credit card setting on the rollers. What I really hate is after all the time and effort brewing the end result is too sweet. There appears to be a few reasons for this so I thought I...

    Ss Brew kettle mod

Hi Guys, I've been Biab with my 10 gal Ss brew kettle for 3 years or so now and am considering adding a mash recirculating sytem In an effort to improve efficiency. Is this the way to go, and if so what parts would I need to adapt my standard brew kettle.

    Paypal scam warning.

I had an account with John Lewis broadband (provided by Plus Net) and on a couple of occasions when I phoned to complain that my speeds were below those contracted for I received a call from someone saying that they were phoning because of a fault on my broadband. Long story short, I got caught...

    Pilsner

Just a thought, have you tried the CML Kolsch Yeast? If you like a lager/pilsner then a Kolsch just might do it for you. (And no I don’t have connections to CML apart from being Glaswegian).

    Pilsner

I can vouch for CML Helles yeast I’ve used it 3 times now with no issues using only one pack per brew. Drinking the fruits of my labour as I “message”?

    Pilsner

White Labs WLP830 is my favourite so far. I did however have to pitch in a pack of CML Helles on its third run after a stuck fermentaion at 1020 waiting to see how it turns out

Looks great! I'm starting to get a taste for sours and I know my son likes them too, so if you wouldn't mind sharing your recipe I'd like to have a bash at it.

What's on your to brew list?

Brilliant! Just had a look at their website (why didn’t I think of that). Any idea what “BON” in the grain bill stands for?

What's on your to brew list?

Hi Cestrian I've been using this Goose Island IPA Clone - All Grain English IPA Homebrew Beer Recipe - Brewer's Friend for some time and using CML US Pale Ale and recently WLP644 and tweaking the hop schedule. Currently substituting the Centennial for Falconers Flight and doing an active dry...

What's on your to brew list?

Trying hard to clone an acceptable Goose Island IPA, missing out on that slight pineapple aftertaste but hopefully a recent purchase of galaxy in an active dry hop will help. Enjoying my lager at the mo, so for Dark Island....this is the recipe I use 4kg Pilsner Malt 650gm Pale Ale Malt 400 gm...
