    Extract brewing help

Hi All, I know this topic is covered a lot but having only brewed kits, I want to develop my skills with extract brewing. With the MJ kits I normally do, I already mix the wort in a stockpot and pimp up the kits with additional dry hopping towards the end of fermentation. I don't use hops in...

forgive me foxy but when you say capping at 1 degree plato, if fermenting in a corny are you suggesting attaching blow off tube until 4 points towards the end of gravity?

MJ Helles lager brewing with M54 yeast, what' gone wrong!?

Thanks for your response, appreciate your comments. I dont quite understand your point below 'All yeasts perform at their best level at 1 atm, while lager yeasts can handle some pressure ale yeast doesn't'. Are you saying that ale yeasts can or can't handle pressure?

MJ Helles lager brewing with M54 yeast, what' gone wrong!?

Hi Foxy, please see below correspondence with MJ Sam (Mangrove Jack's) Oct 15, 2020, 20:13 GMT+1 Good day. From when the yeast is pitched or if you don’t have co2 to force first then allow the pressure to build up from fermentation. Best regards Sam - Consumer Experience Advocate -...

MJ Helles lager brewing with M54 yeast, what' gone wrong!?

be interersted to hear how it is. As said, mine smelt great (as a lager should smell) just before dry hopping but since then has gone a bit south.

MJ Helles lager brewing with M54 yeast, what' gone wrong!?

you're right the site does say fg 1.014. for some reason I thought it should have been 1.010 but I was obviously wrong. This time I dry hopped pellets loose to maximise aroma and taste. Normally I do in a bag but this time I did differently.

MJ Helles lager brewing with M54 yeast, what' gone wrong!?

I have posted this on the beer kit thread but thought it might be more appropriate here. Hi All, I have been brewing the above kit this week using M54 yeast. Brewing under pressure in a corny (have brewed under pressure for others) from last Sunday early hours. The fermentation really took off...

Mangrove Jacks Helles Lager kit - what's gone wrong!

Hi All, I have been brewing the above kit this week using M54 yeast. Brewing under pressure in a corny (have brewed under pressure for others) from last Sunday early hours. The fermentation really took off and by Monday evening SG had dropped from OG 1.040 (this was a lower OG than expected) to...

    Fermenting under pressure

Hi, the main reason for doing it is to mitigate 02. I am brewing a hoppy IPA and want to retain as much of the dry hops taste and aroma as possible. I had actually applied pressure at 10psi from the beginning . SG has dropped from 1.047 to 1.024 in 3 days at constant 20c. I have tried this...

    Fermenting under pressure

Hi All, would anyone know the optimum psi to ferment under pressure in a corny keg for Mangrove Jack's M44 US West Coast yeast and at what point of fermentation should pressure be applied? Many thanks

    MJ Pink Grapefruit IPA

yes, tasted, much liked by friends and all gone! I must have misread the hydrometer as it didn't taste any stronger than the last batch at 5.6%. Have moved onto many more brews since then. Let me know how it tastes

    Festival Razorback IPA

that's no doubt the problem the temp has been fluctuating rather a lot when we had the very hot weather even up to 25c!

    Festival Razorback IPA

Having read great reviews on this kit, I thought I'd try one and have had one brewing for 3 weeks. Sadly the smell and taste coming from it pre dry hopping is very unpleasant. This is the 1st time I have had this and its an almost musty smell like BO. I'm guessing it's infected and better off...

Mangrove Jack's M29 French Saison Yeast

I am currently brewing a MJ Saison kit that comes with the above yeast. The instructions suggest temperatures between 26c-32c. There are various thoughts on this on the forum but can anyone advise what fermenting temperature would be optimal? Many thanks

    Fermentation Not Started

in my experience some ale Yeasts can take some time to get going, even 24-48 hours. I tend to keep my dry yeast packets in the freezer and take them out on breeing day.
