    electrim mash boiler

I've got one of the electrims, really good. Think a few of the folks on here have made their own from various styles of plastic bucket + kettle elements. (Didn't fancy it myself, so just plumped for one of the ready-mades in case I killed myself or blew up the house; I'm no sparky). There's a...

    Wilkinsons sale

Extra fv (probably destined for grain storage) finings and yeast to keep me going for quite a while, and two kits while they're cheap and I'm limited for time (pub work at this time of year us predictably a beast lol) Never done beer from a kit before, went straight to AG. This should be an...

How much would you pay for a used King Keg on Ebay?

+1 for king kegs. Easier to clean, take knocks much better. And as mentioned earlier, by the time you've upgraded the vent cap to an s30 the price is pretty much the same anyway.

    Wanted: 4.5g plastic pin(s)

Howdy folks, just a general shout out really. Any ideas how to get hold of a couple of these? Brewery plastics have minimum order of 40 :( and alix101 seems to have sold all those ones he got from spain... can't seem to find them anywhere!

    Where to next?

No efficiency issues here, and no issues with stuck mashes etc, because I'm just essentially dunking a giant tea bag several times in 75c water and topping up with it  always hit or exceed beersmith's projected target sg. Have had a play with a borrowed mash tun and it worked fine of...

    Where to next?

Go BIAB! It's awesome. And by the sounds of your space/time situation, it's the best solution for you. If you've been doing kits anyway you'll just need to get yourself a big boiler. I got a 32l electrim bucket when I started four months ago, and it's brilliant for purpose. Integrated...

    When to add dme/additional sugars

Well it seemed to go fine anyway  the lower hop absorption shouldn't be too disastrous, as there were 4 additions of Columbus in it...

    When to add dme/additional sugars

Doing a big American amber today. 5kg grain bill over 25l brew length, bumped up with 500g dme and 600g golden syrup. Question is, when you use additional sugars like this, when do you add them in the boil? All the way or is less time sufficient?

    Dandelion & beer-dock?

Ah, good point.. Don't want to be cooling my yeast lol. Starting to think maybe boil up a syrupy tea with the powdered roots and bash that in the secondary when the finings go in...

    Dandelion & beer-dock?

Thinking of making a straightforward 4%er and flavouring it with ground dandelion root and Burdock root (friend's request/challenge). Anyone done this or similar? Wondering about when to add, and how much... Into the mash? Last 10 minutes of boil? Any thoughts/general herbal anecdotes much...

    It's foraging weekend!!!

There's a little community orchard at the end of my road which I've done rather well out of this year... There's a bit of competition for stuff, but when you're up at six with a one year old anyway then it gives you a little bit of an advantage.... Made four gallons of greengage wine, 3 kilos...

unsure what i have made....(elderberry disaster?)

Very good salvage job I'd say! Incidentally... 15 bloody kg of elderberries?! Even including stalk weight that's some good work, how long did it take you? But on the matter in hand, that big fat tannin/pectin content isn't going anywhere, such is the enormous joy of elders. So just add...

    Airlock issue

Depending on yeast strain etc I've noticed this... Got an ipa in fv thats similar, was worried, but after a week the readings seem pretty good. Just cos there's not much co2 being bashed out doesn't necessarily mean there's no booze being created... How longs it been going? Done any...

    Wilko Pressure Barrels

I've just started out too and was looking at the Wilko ones. I know they're deemed largely fit for purpose; but seeing as I knew I'd be needing the s30 cap anyway it turned out the exact same price to just get a KK from LHBS already fitted with one. (Well, about £2 difference). Also, might just...
