Which Ball Valves - different names!

P, FWIW, from my 'research', 15mm (or ½"BSP) is the common size used by most brewers. I can't see you needing the extra capacity of 22mm as most of the time you need a slower, controlled flow from the mash tun & boiler (so as to create the mash &/or hop bed for filtering). 15mm/½" fittings are...

    Coopers Canadian blonde kit.

I wonder if that is because of the 400g of maltodextrin in Coopers Brew Enhancer 1 :hmm: (the rest being 600g of dextrose)

    New to hydrometer

2lbs of sugar should give you an SG of around 1040 according to Coopers. Did you give the sugar, malt extract & hot water a good stir before adding the cold water? Just wondering if it had all dissolved before you measured the gravity :wha: Have you tried calibrating your hydrometer in 20*C...

    New to hydrometer

    coopers hydrometer

Is it a plastic one that came from their kit? If so then... "The hydrometers, supplied with the DIY Beer Kit, are calibrated using distilled water at 20degC - they should read 0.998 +/- 0.001." http://www.coopers.com.au/the-brewers-guild/talk-brewing?g=posts&m=15921#post15921

    Best Turbo Cider to date

Hi BBN, I think what Fermentall meant was that once the demijohn has cleared to that extent it's a good indication that fermentation has basically finished and you are o.k. to rack/bottle the TC. I'm no expert (!!! :D) but I doubt you'll get two different tasting drinks although I would...

    Best Turbo Cider to date

Hi BBN, Not sure if I'm misunderstanding your question, but you should not stir the demijohn with your TC in before you bottle it as this will disturb the sediment and you don't want to do that. For some good basic info have a look at Moleys tutorials here and here. (I know it's not Turbo Cider...
