    geterbrewed confusion

fancy a dabble at biab so I'm thinking of ordering a biab kit from geterbrewed which comes with a free mash kit, looked at a few but I'm unsure which free ones I'm entitled to, the one I spent an age choosing added another 23 quid to my bill! does anyone know what ones are the freebies ?

    a question for you....

That sounds logical Sponge, I don't know why I primed it in the morning, guess I thought it would give it time to blend together as I added it so gently, I usually transfer the beer to a bottling bucket so haven't tried this method before, I know for next time ! on the plus side swmbo may not...

    a question for you....

I shall get on it then Brew ! I only asked as it's cloudier than normal, I have used this kit as a base quite a few times now and haven't bottled straight from the primary before, guess that few days in the secondary does make a difference !

    a question for you....

Evening all, I've had a really fast ferment on a Coopers wheat beer kit with my now standard wb-06 yeast that I like to use with wheats, it's been at 1.004 for a couple of days now so this morning I thought I'd have a go at bottling this evening straight from fv1 bypassing the secondary (which...

    Good old bottling day

had a session last night, an hour from start to finish. Nice and easy if you find it enjoyable, used these old Bier de Garde bottles for the first time, it would be nice to cork them properly but for now I thought these would do.... tight old fit, got a sore palm from thumping them...

    priming again !

thanks all, I primed it this morning with 110g of sugar dissolved in some of the drawn off beer and gently added it back in, couple of gentle stirs and lid on! will bottle it tonight & that'll be different from my usual routine as well, I plan on using mostly ex Bier de garde bottles, but as I...

    priming again !

thanks chaps, I thought about priming the secondary but was a little wary of clouding it up, I would prefer to batch prime as opposed to each bottle :thumb:

    priming again !

was hoping to bottle up an ipa I have dry hopping in a secondary tomorrow, but I've just realised I've only 2 buckets and both have brews in them, so I'll have to add sugar straight to the bottles, I am being a real lazy git by asking you lot instead of looking for the answer myself  going...

    Extra fermentables

just put one of these together myself at the weekend Kman, used 500g spraymalt and 750g of dextrose and made it to the full 23 ltrs to give an og of 1.053, I did use a wyeast 1056 smack pack though, first time using this yeast, went off like a rocket, currently sitting in the fridge at 18deg...

    wyeast temperature ?

yes I was thinking it should be, I tend to worry too much sometimes, just needed some reassurance :thumb:

    wyeast temperature ?

got an ipa going yesterday morning and used a wyeast 1056 smack pack, its been in the fridge happily bubbling away but i've just realised I hadn't changed the temperature from my last brew which was set at 20deg, reading the blurb on this yeast it seems it will give a cleaner more citrus taste...

    Good old bottling day

I quite enjoy it too, I've learnt to make it a little easier for myself by using the dishwasher and the oven to do my bottles (I have to remove the top tray of the washer as I tend to use 750ml bottles) and I fill the bottles with the fv on the kitchen worktop above the open dishwasher door...

    B*gger !

yes the other tap has always been at an angle and because its much larger than this one pictured it's still to close for comfort and because of the size I've had to heat up the silicon pipe to get over the end, a short length is semi permanently attatched with a zip tie! this cut out on the...

    B*gger !

altered the shelf in the fridge to stop any chance of knocking the taps again, pretty sure that may have contributed to it coming loose

    B*gger !

drawing of a sample of wheat beer from my fv this morning to test the gravity as it's nearly done and I noticed a drip from the tap, without really thinking I twisted it, I suppose in an effort to stop the drip but made it worse ( why do I have to fiddle with things !!) had to do an emergency...

    woop woop !

been at 1.010 for the last couple of days so I bottled it up,4.2% according to my readings and I got 25x750ml's (and a couple of cheeky glasses) from it.. made a fridge this week too, following the excellent guides on this forum :thumb: makes my beer corner look organised for a change....
