    Cider kit

I've had a few kits now and the best one by a fair margin is the Ranges own cider, its quite sweet and really appley, absolutely perfect drinking ice cold in this weather

    Another pressure barrel query

Well i found the culprit for causing the leak, it was the rubber band around the cap for the pressure relief. Connected my compressor to the tap and pressurized the barrel up to 7psi and found air leaking from it. Ive now moved the rubber band and its holding pressure so will have another go at...

    Another pressure barrel query

After my cider not carbonating in my pressure barrel (a brand new Balliihoo) i decided to transfer it into bottles last night, the thing is there wasn't even a hiss when i removed the lid so im guessing there must have been a leak so no build up of pressure and hence why i have no carbonation...

    kopparberg style cider kits!

Porter, as already suggested, just pour it out into your FV then rinse the pouch and pour the contents into the FV as well, it just makes sure you get every bit of the concentrate out. Im gonna be buying one of these kits myself as think 3kg of concentrate should make a really good cider.

    Pressure Barrel Advice

Cheers for the advice guys, i used 180g of sugar to prime the barrel and it was in primary for 2 weeks. Its had 2 weeks at a steady temp so far and its still flat so think im just gonna bite the bullet and reprime and bottle it.

    Pressure Barrel Advice

Has nobody got any advice? If anybody has, i could do with it sooner rather than later as i don't want to ruin my batch.....

    Pressure Barrel Advice

1 1/2 weeks ago, i put my latest batch of cider (the ranges apple cider kit and very nice it is too!) in a pressure barrel and batch primed it with 180g of sugar. The problem is, its only lightly carbonated at the moment, the barrel is on a heat mat so has been kept at a constant 22 degrees...

    kopparberg style cider kits!

They look like a good find, would be intersted to see if they are any good as the missus loves mixed berries Koppaberg. so far i have tried the Ritchies on the Rocks mixed berries which with a dash of blackcurrant Lowicz syrup was very suppable and got this one on the go at the moment...

    Cooling a Keg

Cheers for the suggestions guys, fridge isn't big enough so unless i bought a specific beer fridge for the garage, it could be the ice and cold water route. Either that or just serve my cider over ice and let it cool in the glass. I did see this and recon it could be adapted, the R2-Beer2...

    Cooling a Keg

I've just been bought a 25L pressure keg and quite fancy the idea of putting my latest batch of cider in there for convenience. My question is, this time of year its relatively cold outside so its not too much of an issue having a nice cold pint when i want one as i usually keep my brews in the...

    Raspberryade

Just bottle it up, as its conditioning in the bottles it will clear itself.

Ritchies On the Rocks, Mixed Berry Cider Review

Did you brew it to the full 23L? I brewed mine short at 20L and although its only been bottled for 2 weeks, its tasting pretty good, even better if you add a dash of lowicz blackcurrant syrup to your glass before you pour it.

Ritchies On The Rocks Mixed Berry

Cheers for the feedback Simmo, i got side tracked at the weekend so never got round to putting it on. I was trying to avoid adding Lowicz syrup if i possible as it adds a lot of sugar and makes the brew a lot stronger, i suppose i could substitute some of the sugar you need to add with syrup...

Ritchies On The Rocks Mixed Berry

Yesterday i bought a Ritchies On The Rocks Mixed Berry kit to put on over the weekend. After reading a few reviews, I've seen that to avoid it being a bit watery, people have either brewed it short to 20L instead of 23L or have substituted some of the water with various fruit juices (carton...

Does yeast make a difference to taste?

As usual, cheers for the informative replies. Looks like I may need to get my mitts on a few different yeasts to try, I did read somewhere that Nottingham yeast gets a good result with cider so may try that and the young's cider yeast.

Does yeast make a difference to taste?

Since starting out home brewing, all the batches I have made have been done with wine yeast. Would using a different yeast make any difference to the flavour or is it generally all the same stuff? I tend to make cider so if it does affect flavour, can anybody recommend a good one to use?

    6-WAY TC TASTE TEST #1 - juices

Was thinking of doing a bit of a test myself, was going to do a tc with cheap apple juice and a tc with more expensive apple juice just to see if there really is no difference in taste between them. Will probably wait until copella is on special offer and try that.
