    brewing in the shed

I also ferment in the same cupboard that my water tank is in. It has been a steady 19 degrees every time I checked it. Our water heating comes on for an hour in the morning and an hour or two in the evening. The only time the temperature in the cupboard dropped was when we ran out of heating...

    Moving to the barrel :)

I would say they are about the same temperature right now. 3 degrees C roughly. I'll out it into the spare fridge for a few weeks I think. It's bee sitting at 19C for almost 10 days now. I'm worried about it though. I didn't put any C02 in when I sealed up the keg!!!

How to make a premium beer kit, from start to finish.

I didn't do this after Kegging 4/5 days ago. Is it too late?

    Moving to the barrel :)

Sorry, those two questions were completely seperate. I'm wondering if a fridge is too cold for final conditioning of a keg? Would a garden shed, for example, be more suitable. Slighlty higher temperate maybe?

    Moving to the barrel :)

After gassing a plastic keg do you have to wait at all before you can continue... Um... Drinking? Also, my plastic keg is conditioning in 20C right now. In 2 weeks I'll move to cooler temp. I have a spare fridge, just wondering is that too cold to finish conditioning (probably for a further 3...

    Another temperature question

For my first brew, I just moved the primary FV from a 20C environment (where it had been for 10 days) to a 14C environment. I plan on letting it sit in there for another 3/4 days to clear a little and then rack to a keg. Does this sound like good practice?

Anything wrong with putting a lid & airlock on primary fv?

Is there any way to tell if CO2 isn't escaping? Would the lid fully pop off if enough pressure built up? I'm pretty sure my pressure is getting out somehow but just worried that if it isn't it may be interfering with the fermentaion process.

    bottles or keg

Will the little bottler spigot fit any tap? Or are there different sizes? Which fermenting bucket are you using? Thanks

    Ok newbie questions!

I'm very tempted to do just this. The only question I have is regarding the priming sugar. Does adding it all at once still ensure each bottle ends up with the correct amount? Have you noticed any inconsistencies in your finished bottles?

    Howdy from Northern Ireland

Thanks all. Posted my first noob query in the "Anything wrong with putting a lid & airlock on primary fv?" thread.

Anything wrong with putting a lid & airlock on primary fv?

Well, I'm wondering if I need the airlock in the primary at all since I'm transferring to secondary anyway. The secondary I bought has an airlock and is described as ideal for a secondary ferment. But now I'm wondering if I can't just use that one for primary. =============== King Keg Top Tap...

    Howdy from Northern Ireland

So I was given a brewing starter kit as a gift for Christmas. Could well turn out to be the best present I've ever been given. We'll see. The first brew is on and has been fermenting for 4 days now. I'm using this as a learning experience. Given the budget of our gifts this year and the fact...

Anything wrong with putting a lid & airlock on primary fv?

Glad I found this thread. Am I right in thinking that some of you use a fully sealed bucket for primary fermentation? I have a 5 gallon bucket with a lid but NO AIRLOCK. I plan on fermenting in that for a week, then switching to a secondary fermenter, that does have an airlock, for a few weeks...
