    Turbo cider sweetener

I recently tried half spoon, doubled up on the amount of priming sugar, the sugar half ferments out leaving the sweetener behind, tastes pretty nice to me.

Hi, I am just about to start out and want to get it right.

Hi On my first batch I used an old electric blanket with a timer plug, put it in a plastic box wrapped around the brew. Set the timer for half an hour every other hour while the heating was off but now moved on to the water bath as it means I can brew in the cellar. Good luck!

Anybody used 'Half-spoon' to sweeten and condition?

Hi all I've got a batch of cider that coming up for secondary using a pressure barrel; Just had a wee taste and it's not sweet enough for my liking. After a bit of reading some people are suggesting prime with sugar and sweeten with splenda, I'm really not up for the artificial sweetener taste...

    Heating source for FV

Evening all On a similar note - I do the same for primary with the aquarium heater in a tub, but does anybody know if it would it be okay to condition in a pressure barrel with using this method? Bit worried about the tap being under the water :wha: Cheers

    Old boots pressure barrel

Hi all I picked up two boots pressure barrels on eBay for 99p the other day. Just given one a good scrub, filled with water and popped a CO2 charger on. Initially it was smoking (very slightly) under the cap for a second then stopped. I left it for a few mins then drained through the tap; in...

    Wilko's wine finings

I had the same issue the other week. in the end I just jumped in and added 2 tea spoons per gallon, stuck what was left in the fridge then used it again the next day on another wine. Not sure if this is the correct way but it worked for me, beautifully clear wine at the end of it. Wouldn't...

    BrewZer

Haha I agree, the concept is shocking - What's more embarrassing is I've just learned that the company who invented this is/was based in my home county! Just had a thought - cut the top off, stash some bottles in there and pack with ice

    BrewZer

Hi all Just picked up a couple of pressure barrels on eBay, they also threw in a BrewZer (If you've not heard of it there's a clip on Youtube) I know they don't make the kits for these any more (£30 for 10 pint's isn't my idea of fun anyway) but I was wondering if anyone had any creative...

Food for thought or thought of food ?

I was a chef for 5 years, had all sorts of interesting bits sent my way, but probably (surprisingly) best of all was Kangaroo, lovely, beefy, slightly game taste, although needs careful cooking as it can dry out easily. A nice red wine or port and redcurrant reduction goes really well

    Yeast Nutrients?

I added a Tsp (Per Gallon) of tomato purée to a batch of wine once as I was told this was good nutrient, worked out fine (I'm happily drinking a glass as I type this!) :drunk: Stu Chop_Suey_Stuey
