    How do I clean these?

Just purchased 5 second hand Demi-johns for £8 which I thought to be a bargain, However upon collection they were MINGING! They had been left outside in the elements for I presume years. 4 with rubber bungs (which are not so bad) but 1 without a bung that's had organisms living within. Some are...

I've tried doing a search regarding this but the search enging "ignores" the word "before" for some reason?? Anyway I wondered how long is home brew good for :?: I mean off the shelf beers all have either a sell-by or use-by date on them. I spoke to A relative recently who says he's never had...

Logging on from the home of Copper Dragon

Welcome to the forum wharfedale :thumb: Woodfordes Wherry is also my first kit & i'm waiting here patiently, with it behind me right now on the floor in my hallway at 20c. I would say try to keep it at a constant 16c if that's the highest temprature you can get. at the end of the day I'm...

    Why food grade plastic?

What exactly does the 5 in the triangle actually mean anyway? I've seen plenty of items with this logo & some with other numbers in the middle. (I presume it's some sort of grading of the plastics, but if it is what's good & what's bad)?

    Why food grade plastic?

This may be a silly question to those in the know, but why is it so important to use a food grade FV? eg the food grade plastic buckets as opposed to say an empty 25 litre paint tub? At the end of the day, if its washed & sterile what's the difference? :wha:

about to put brew in keg

Woodfordes wherry instructions say half a teaspoon of sugar per pint upto a maximum of 100 grammes for a pressure keg. I myself am brewing the same wherry for the first time but I bought the king keg with a top tap to transfer mine into. Unused so far as the brew is still in the FV but I shall...
