When will my Brew Buddy rotten egg 'rhyno fart' smell go?

Just used normal sugar, 1kg. It tasted OK, I had a sip, and read that it is normal for it to smell when brewing a cider. I have done a lager and a bitter and did not have this problem. Fermentation started at 1.036 and finished at 1.000 and was at that for 2 days. Three days ago it was 1.002, so...

When will my Brew Buddy rotten egg 'rhyno fart' smell go?

Yesterday, I opened my fermenting bin for the first time in 7 days to check the hydrometer reading, and wow what a stench. The hydrometer read 1.000, today it also read 1.000, and still there is an horrendous stench. Could anyone enlighten me on when this is likely to disperse?. I have just...

Third brew ive done and think its gone off?

This is the third brew i have done and i think it may have gone off. It was a cider, and i didn't leave it fermenting long enough and it became so fizzy that it mingled all the sediment with the brew when i opened it. Also it smells really bad. I dont know if that is because the sediment has...

    Will the sediment compact?

I bottled my brew buddy cider 7 days ago, but did it when the hydrometer was 1.002, and didn't do the 2 day consistency test to check it had finished fermenting as I had to go home. I tried a bottle 2 days ago, and it is very fizzy. It doesn't explode out the bottle, but I go a lot of bubbles...

    Can I Bottle?

I forgot to take one, oops. However, I can say its a brew buddy cider and I added 1kg of sugar to 5 gallons.

    Can I Bottle?

Hi, I have a dilemma. It would be more beneficial to me to go home from uni tonight, rather than tomorrow, however I have a cider that needs bottling first. I checked it in the morning two days ago and it was at 1.020 on the hydrometer. I checked it at 2pm today, day 6, and it was at 1.006. I...

    Brewbuddy Cider. Add pear juice?

Haha, I didn't know that lol. With that said, brew buddy cider obviously has apples in the kit. Is it possible to not use a kit, just add lots of pear juice, so its all pear? I know this is a long shot, as kits I guess have other stuff in them as well. If not, can I buy a perry kit?

    Brewbuddy Cider. Add pear juice?

I have been told that it is possible to substitute some of the sugar for apple juice. Would it taste like a pear cider if I use pear juice? The logic is there, im just wondering if it will taste OK.

    Youngs Brewbuddy Cider, how strong?

OK, where do a lay my hands on these 'turbo' yeasts? Is the one in the link one? Would a kit yeast not suffice? If I add another kit, would I need to add 2 sachets of yeast? Thanks

    Youngs Brewbuddy Cider, how strong?

The instructions state 40 pints of 5% cider, add 1kg sugar. 32 pints 7% cider, and 1.25kg sugar. Would the yeast sustain 40 pints with 1.25 kg sugar? and what % would it be? Could I use this yeast http://www.homebrew4u.co.uk/country-win ... ec1118.asp As you can probably tell, I want to see...

Youngs Harvest Bitter vs Coopers Larger

Hey everyone, I brewed a Youngs Harvest Bitter about a month ago, bottled after a week fermenting leaving the 3 weeks while I was back home for Easter for settle in the bottles. That tasted really good for my first brew. I have now done a Coopers Larger, and It fermented a lot quicker, about 4...

Will I have a runny bum?

I have brewed my first batch for 9 days, botttled for 3 weeks. It tastes nice and is very clear. But will it give me a runny bum until I leave it longer? I cant leave it alone. :D

    Just a quick question?

I have finished my first batch and it is amazing.. very nice. Now, my question. In the first batch it said add 1.5kg of sugar, i added 1kg by accident. It still tastes really nice. I have next bought a coopers larger kit that says add 1kg sugar. Can I add 1.5kg anyway. Do kits that say 1Kg...

    Paranoid / Worried...

Your telling me to drive back...? Seriously? I only put half a teaspoon, if that in each bottle as i knew i would be driving back home..

    Paranoid / Worried...

I just added half teaspoon to a pint. I just thought as I could see the sugar in the bottom when I bottled I needed to dissolve it. Next time lol :thumb:

    Paranoid / Worried...

A few days ago I bottled my home brew into liter pet bottles, leaving about an inch and a half from the top. I have brewed a bitter, and when I filled them up they got a bit of head on them, even though I took every care to pour it down the side of the bottle. Anyway I have left them at my Uni...

    Its been 9 days.. bottle?

Hi, i have had my young's bitter in primary fermentation for 9 days now, and the hydrometer has read 1.006 for the last 2-3 days. Is it time to bottle? The other reason I ask is that when I leave the lid on, it still gets a bulge in it after a time. Very strange. I really think it is time to...

    Slight issue...

Will it be OK to drink after the 4 weeks, or do I still need to leave it outdoors for a while? Could I just stand them in the fridge as it has already had 4 weeks?
