- Early years: Rediffusion's cable TV system was based on technology from telephone networks. The TVs used were basic sets without a tuner, and the radios were essentially loudspeakers with a volume control.
- 1963: Rediffusion reached one million cable subscribers worldwide.
- 1968: The first VHF coaxial cable networks were introduced.
- 1969: Color was introduced on all channels.
- 1972: Community Cable TV was licensed in several British towns.
- 1976: The first application of fiber optics in cable TV was introduced in Hastings.
- 1980: Rediffusion operated five of the 13 subscription channels issued by the UK, under the name Starview.
- 1986: Rediffusion trialled their new System 8 in Guildford.
- End of the 1980s: Rediffusion abandoned the cable TV and radio distribution system.
