Recall warning for cheese over Listeria contamination fears

An urgent recall has been issued for a range of popular cheeses amid Listeria contamination fears.

The cheeses are sold in Northern Ireland in major food stores. The Food Standards Agency has warned that there could be the 'possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes in the products'.

Symptoms caused by this organism can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea, says the agency. However, in rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, such as meningitis.
