I’d have to recommend Brewser. It is a subscription service but can be cancelled any time. You can get a really good first box discount too

Sorry to bump this up after all this time but I've been dealing with Virgin Wines for over a year and wonder if anyone can recommend another company. For wines.
I've been happy with their service - prompt delivery and generally pleased with the mixed case selections.
Even had a no quibble credit for one bottle that could have been off.

Thanks folks

Well worth the £40 lifetime membership, and you get £20 of it back to spend on wine anyway.

drinkfinder.co.uk

They only stock Cornish breweries. Handy though if you want other booze and a few beers. Or are a homesick Cousin Jack.

I'm going to give them a try. Biggest plus for them is the cans are 440ml vs. 330ml / 350ml US, as to me they're just sample sizes unless the beer is above 6%.

Beer52 got me to re-sub with a £10 intro offer which to be fair is good value, but then after that £30 for 8 little cans is too steep for me, I am just on the once every two month subscription now as I still enjoy the novelty. Used to read the magazine when I was newer to brewing but now it just goes in the bin

Beer 52 are doing a promo at the moment, if you go to beer52.com/kent they do a pack of ten beers for £4.95.

They've partnered with a fella on YouTube who does a load of stealth camping vids, I sort of stumbled upon it yesterday (I do often watch his stuff but haven't in a while) and decided to take the plunge and start a subscription.

I've heard mixed things about Beer52 but after having a look at a few other beer subscriptions they all seem very similar.

It’s difficult to get out of the subscription once you start though. I took a free case back in April and every time I phone up to cancel I’m enticed to stay with a big discount.

I’ve decided I’ll phone them in January and tell them I’ve stopped drinking.

They are notorious for that. Under the new Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024, you have a right to a 14-day period to cancel after a trial or after a long-term sub auto-renews (eg yearly), and it has to be as easy as signing up - so if you signed up online, you have to be able to cancel online and not have to go through a rigmarole on the phone.

Obviously nobody has told them that, you click through about 5 different screens where they try to entice you to stay, and then at the end it says that if you really want to cancel you need to phone them.

The beers are largely rubbish. YMMV.
I made this point every time I’ve phone to cancel. The beer price point is somewhere between supermarket craft beer and bottle shops, but the beers are no better than the Northern Monk etc beers in Tesco.

I then got the “if they aren’t work £3 a can, are they work £1.37 a can?”. Deal done 😂

I bought one from "Brewser", 12 cans of Arbor for £40 delivered. Not exactly cheap but I can't find the beers round here and it's a bit cheaper than similar beers in the shop.

It's a subscription one I think so will need cancelling but I paid last month and that's my Christmas beers sorted out of last month's wages

Sounds a good price.

If someone is selling beer at £2 or less, its either because they are subsidising the price by overpricing volume goods, such as bread and milk (aka supermarkets) or other luxury items, or its beer that didn't sell via conventional routes, loss recovery. So, either not very good or out of date.

Tell a lie, it was £32 quid because I had a 20% off voucher. £2.66 a can isn't bad at all and the Arbor beers I have tried have been top quality.

I have ordered mixed cases from Hobsons brewery, thornbridge, Durham brewery (the best but expensive), st Austell brewery, Tintagel brewery (also v.good). As usual it’s the delivery charge that gets you. But as an occasional treat, it’s worth it. I have also collected mixed cases from my local breweries - St Ives, Dynamite Valley, Treen.

That's a good point. I've ordered direct from a good few of the smaller breweries. St Peter's, Woodfordes, Salcombe, Bowland, Mallinsons....

Some of the mini casks are really good too and sometimes better conditioned than bottles, Bowland Hen Harrier and the Woodfordes 52 north range come to mind

As you say there's the postage charge. My rationale to that point is if you make a big order the postage cost as a percentage becomes insignificant 😉
