10 years ago today, I started all grain brewing - hey thanks technology for reminding me of this milestone!
Started out with a cool box mash tun and a pot on the stove, and had to chill the wort in an ice bath. Had really no good temperature control on anything at all. And the very first beer I made was a (Greg Hughes recipe) pumpkin ale! How I didn't get a stuck sparge is beyond me! It was a tasty brew though and I was hooked.
Brewing today with my trusty Grainfather G30, and my glycol chiller and conical fermenter system. Not a pumpkin ale today, but I have made a few of these over the years. A few gold, silver and bronze medals in competitions over the years, and I think I am slowly knowing what I am doing :laugh8: Still make plenty of cockups, but all part of the experience!

Time flies when you are having fun. I passed the 10 year mark in May. Still using the same Igloo mash tun, brew kettle and very, very occasionally the same FV. Temperature control came and went, I don't need it now.

It's great that people are sticking with the hobby 👍🏼 I'm not at 10 years yet..parents got me one of those all grain 1 gallon kits at Christmas. First brew day was 31/12/2016

Approaching 8 years for me, but only sporadically for the first few years.. Its only since covid that I really found the passion for the hobby and fully immersed myself into learning the processes, styles, history/culture and competitions.
Love it - spent far too much over the years, but its become a lot more than just the end product.
