I've been on the low alcohol lately.

My verdict - Ghost Ship is still my favourite, but only about half as good as the 'real version'!

I finally had the Guinness one, it was nice they even managed to get that 'tang' which is quite impressive.

For lager I think Heineken is the best, or Clausthaller. I tried the Aldi St Etienne, it started off alright but had a bit of a bubblegum flavour that didn't quite sit right. A lot of the others I've not been impressed by.

San Miguel is supposed to be very good but I haven't found it yet.

Overall I'd rather have a small beer 2-3%, I think that gives the best compromise. Shandy or a 'top' is also a good option

Reading this thread I was surprised that no one tried this Trappist.
It's the only alcoholfree Trappist.
Unfortunately due to health reasons I have to cut back on my alcohol intake.
This is why I am looking for alternatives.

For comparison I've decided to see how this AF Trappist stands up to the La Trappe Dubbel.

La Trappe Nillis 0,0%
Nice dark amber ale. malty flavour without being too sweet.
Plenty of bittering.
Decent hop flavour, not too overpowering.
As with most of the AF beers described here the head dissapears quite quickly

La Trappe Dubbel
The Dubbel is actually sweeter than the Nillis.
Less hop flavour, but a longer lasting head.

All-in-all I like this one.
I haven't been able to get my mhands on the Guiness 0,0% yet, but until I do the Nillis is a good alternative IMHO.

Thanks @hop-a-long that is a new one to me, I’d certainly check it out but for me those Belgians more than any other beer style the alcohol is part of profile so interested to see it holds up.
Then it might come as a surprise but, La Trappe is actually one of the two Dutch Trappist breweries!
