    Wine kits recommendations

Hi, Usually a beer brewer but the mrs loves her wine. Decided I would do a kit for her, she is expecting it to be rubbish (as she deems my hedgerow wines of old to be) She likes muscat or Pinot Grigio We both like Malbec as a red. Looking for recommendations for a kit of either style to...

1st time pressure lager / pilsener

No problem, thanks for the reply. It’s a while ago since I watched it, I might rewatch it, and try and work out a game plan.

1st time pressure lager / pilsener

Hi all, I think this early spell of nice weather has got me in the mood for a lager. Has anyone got any suggestions for a receipe for a lager that I can ferment under pressure with a genuine lager yeast please. (no kviek / kolsch yeasts). Also would like to understand how I can use the...

    Fleet and Gedney buying

@MashBag @Tony Dyer Is there anyone else we could get on board and maybe be able to club together and get a 25kg sack each to make the minimum to buy from brewers select? Admittedly its probably a bit more than each individual wanted to store, but the advantage is we could each have a different...

    Gelatin

OK, its denser, and if I am delicate the amount of oxygen being mixed in will be very minimal. Probably less than for every brew I have gently syphoned into an unpurged keg without splashing, without any noticeable oxygenation. My opinion is that it is very much horses for courses, highly...

    Gelatin

For highly hopped beers, yep totally agree, but for more traditional ales / pale ales like I tend brew then I have never had any issues with oxidation, CO2 is heavier than air, so I believe the blanket of CO2 produced by the yeast should sit in the bucket and protect it for a couple of minutes...

    Gelatin

Interesting... Ive always added to the fermentation bucket once ive cold crashed. I use the Dr Oetker sachets, I use 1.5 teaspoons in about 150ml of water for a 20-25l batch, sprinkle on top of the water and leave it for 20 mins, then stir it and put in microwave for 10 second intervals until I...

    Fleet and Gedney buying

Ahh I see. I called brewers select in peterborough, they will sell to public / homebrewers without a trade account. But even if you collect their minimum order is £100, which at their price is 4 x 25kg sacks of MO, I would take a sack if I had to but storing 2 sacks and committing to that much...

    Fleet and Gedney buying

That would be perfect, don't currently have anything to be storing it in thanks. Half a bag sounds good works out at base malt for 3 x 20l ish brews. good balance between number of brews and storage room. How many bags were we ordering and how many people are in? if we need to collect I have...

    Fleet and Gedney buying

I would be interested in probably 5-8kg of a base malt, either MO or golden promise or pilsner. how much depends on how much others want and what splits best based on 25kg bags really. I would go halves on a sack if that suited.

    Fleet and Gedney buying

Possibly @MashBag. I am Cowbit. It seems there are a few of us locally, I think there is another member in Quadring too. If you are ordering I could use a few kg of base malt.

Nukatap shank / thread to standard pub beer font

Thanks Thanks for this @YeastFace, That will adapt the threads, but I cant get my head around how I would use this and attach a beerline the celli taps have a built in 3/16 push fit on the back of the shank, leaving the outer thread bare to screw into the the font a bit like the below...

Nukatap shank / thread to standard pub beer font

Hi All. Does anybody know of a clamp on beer font that will work with a nukatap shank at all: Something like this.... https://rlbs.ltd.uk/refurbished-angram-classic-chrome-clamp-on-font-2.html The nukatap beer towers require a hole to be drilled in the worktop, i would like to avoid this and...

    Grainfather Counterflow Chiller Easy Mounting

When I got a G40 in the black friday sale, I was researching lots and lots with regards to how to set it up. On first brew I found the CFC tricky with regards to putting it higher and balancing it on various chairs / crates etc, after some research for wall mounting, I found MM have some cool...

GrainFather G30 steam hood for 4” in-line extractor fan ducting -Any links ideas ?

Be interested if you could share a parts list or photos please? TC parts seem ok to get hold of, it’s finding a spray nozzle and TC plate that fits the spray nozzle that seems elusive.

    Chalky deposits on fermenter

Pleased it worked for you. I have had the same issue with the grainfather cleaner on the grainfather since, weirdly it was only on the area where the elements are. I added the cleaner while warming up so that might have not helped. Came off in the same way though. Im 90% sure it is something...
