Youngs definitive bitter

Hi all
Started a batch off last week using a mix of granulated and brewers i added a big dollop of black treacle as id run out of spray malt.
Question is..this came out as a very pale colour are these kits like a pale ale??

ive made a couple of youngs bitter kits and both of mine looked more like larger than bitter, if its a darker colour your after try steeping some black malt then adding it to the FV.
